I have seven current orders, all placed on the same day, and 10 other orders
placed within the last year. Of the seven current orders, they all say shipped.
This appears to be inaccurate. When I track those packages, they say a label
was created but they have not been picked up by USPS. I am sorry but that is
packed, not shipped. I will favorite the stores that claim my package is shipped
and when I track it, it is actually shipped.

All stores but one gave tracking numbers. This is important. It seems very
easy and common sense, but one store did not give any tracking. Again, the stores
with tracking numbers will be favorites.

I go along with the shipping needs to be on the order. Some stores require I
request a shipping quote. I have done this a few times, and except for the inconvience
of waiting, it was ok. However, again they are not going to be my favorite stores.

I don't mean to be rude. I am only telling this so sellers know my feeling.
If it is shared by others then your practices may be costing you sales.

All of these things are annoyances, and I order from them anyway. However, sellers
with these practices should know that my favorite stores, the ones that get my
orders by default, have shipping prices up front, supply a tracking number, have
actually shipped when they say they have.

Thank you for letting me rant. Just my two cents worth. Have a great day.

Just because the tracking hasn't updated doesn't necessarily mean the
order hasn't shipped. I ship order throughout the day and have them waiting
to be picked up or waiting to be dropped off at a collection site. Packages
over the weekend that are shipped and dropped off at a collection site might
not get scanned until that night, but they are still shipped and dropped off.

I'd give sellers the benefit of the doubt they are marked shipped and begin
tracking within 24 hours during the week, and by Monday evening over the weekends.

Agreed. I take my packages directly to the local post office, and often they
have not yet been scanned 24 hours later. I recently had a package that was
dropped at the post office on a Thursday afternoon and the tracking didn't
acknowledge receipt by USPS until the following Monday. (And the intervening
Friday was not a holiday.)

A small nuance here. Keep in mind some sellers (not me) used automated shipment
processing software. This may be cases where its marked as shipped when the
label is created. Typically businesses have regular parcel pickup in the afternoon
so this isn’t usually a delay of more than a couple hours. Different carriers
operate pickups differently. I have seen them pick up from a manifest instead
of scanning each individual item. In that process they don’t actually update
your specific parcel until it is individually scanned at the depot. In other
words parcels may be actually picked up but not identified as such in their system.

Smaller sellers are more likely to bring the package directly to the post office.
Those cases the item is scanned into the postal system and accepted.

My point is larger sellers may not be trying to deceive you, just have a longer
process.

Also, I never hear anyone complaining giant sellers like Amazon or LEGO S@H do
the exact same thing / have the exact same delays for tracking

I agree that this is most often just a USPS issue (though not always). I drop
my packages off at the Post Office daily before 8am and most times they aren't
scanned as 'accepted' until that afternoon, evening or even mid-day the
next day. They have most certainly been shipped and USPS has them in their possession,
but from the tracking number the buyer would think I still have them. Also, I'm
not positive but I think when I print a label the shipping service (ShipStation)
automatically sends an email to the customer stating the item is shipped.

I drop packages off in the self service bin, It can take up to a day before they
are scanned. Also, the USPS has cut down on the number of scans they do to "save
money". More packages are now receiving the first scan at the distribution center
and not at the local post office. Still rare, but happening with more frequency
are no scans until the end. I just had an order that received no scan at all
until it was delivered in AZ 5 days later (I'm in NJ).

Yes, tracking numbers should always be provided in a timely manner.

I appreciate the information about the Shipped indicator. I now know what it
happening and will not be so judgemental about that subject. Thank you very
much
