I thought it would be cool to find out

Mine is a sealed 1095, which I cannot find sealed anywhere. And I mean rare,
not expensive, though it can be expensive!

Not expensive? First guess, LEGO Duplo 2093.
Retired for unknown reason, something that could harm kids/babies I guess?

There are instructions to build a scale so maybe it's showing what the scale
can weigh? Other than that I have no idea.

Mustard. It is very hard to find, especially in France. Currently there is none
for sale on BrickLink.

Agreed - and it's weird: "there is none for sale on BrickLink".

But this is all Canada's fault - hence why I hate Nubs_Select!

It's not Nub's fault; ever since TLG stopped producing mustard, it's
been in short supply.

These days, it can be hard to find genuine LEGO mustard among all the fakes (like
Heinz).

You mean ‘Xmas comity at work’ (comité de noël du CE)?

Oops, ‘committee’, not ‘comity’.  (For once, French borrowed the word and simplified
its spelling, making it look like another English word.)

Also “comité de noël du CE” doesn’t mean anything, it’s “Noël du CE.”

Lastly, you were right, ‘works council’ is the translation for ‘comité d’entreprise
(CE)’.  Somehow seemed weird to me.

So, I guess “works council’s Christmas” would be the most correct translation.

Sorry, it’s Monday

Not any more:

— The EU limit for the bad substance was max 1mg/kg.
— The German limit was max 0.1mg/kg.
— Germans tested it and found 0.781mg/kg.
— So it was okay everywhere but in Germany.
— So it was recalled in Germany and they changed it to be below the German norm
(for everyone).

That was in 2011-2012.

The thing is, I’m about sure many teethers were (or even still are) as bad or
worse… but, contrarily to Sophie, they have a generic shape.  So they changed
Sophie’s innards but she’s still Sophie, so that story still sticks to her.

My teether (a simple one) fell in the loo when I was 3.  That’s how I stopped.

I stopped tobacco at about the same age.  (Joking, obviously, but there’s a picture
of me with my granddad’s pipe (empty!).)

To be clear: it’s just damaged plates that I chewed on.

(As most people, I lost my baby teeth at about 6 and started having real LEGO
at 4 or 5.  Brick separators didn’t exist at the time.  And once in the mouth,
some got a bit chewed….)

I love going down rabbit holes on BrickLink to see what the value of a new, sealed
set might be based on the parts and minifigures. And lo and behold here's
the Price Guide for a new aquanaut hybrid

As for my most expensive item, I have a lot of 4/5 light up lightsaber figures.
Only missing Obi-Wan, then I’ll have them all. Also own some vintage Star Wars/
Indiana Jones sets/figs and Raimi era Green Goblin and doc ock thin smirk, Peter
Parker, Mary Jane, and Harry from the hideout set. So yeah a bunch of expensive
stuff.

I see three possibilities:

1. Be rich.
2. Have a time machine.
3. Have been a collector for long enough to have bought them when they were cheap.

I’d go for hypothesis 3 (though 1 is not excluded… or maybe 3 led to 1).

I have a few of those original 1970's family figures that have the wierd
shaped heads with ears that are circles. They don't actually work, cause
they're not compatible with any lego that's not from that generation,
and probably not really valuable, but i'm sure they're rare

I got rich by inventing a time machine, but I've also been a longtime collector

In reality I bought everything in 2018/2019 when Boba was only ~$400, back then
I thought he was expensive, can't believe it now (I don't think it's
worth it at this point)

In the words of Boba Fett himself, “He’s worth a lot to me.” Someday I’ll get
myself one of those guys.

It is amazing how much prices can creep up when you are not looking. I have a
couple of sealed

Set No: 50011 Name: The Lord of the Rings - The Battle of Helm's Deep
*
50011-1 (Inv) The Lord of the Rings - The Battle of Helm's Deep
310 Parts, 28 Minifigures, 1 Gear, 2013
Sets: Games: The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings: The Lord of the Rings

I think I paid £17 each. One clearance retailer here had them at just £7.

While not particularly rare, demand has outstripped supply on things like LOTR
sets and minifigs. I am also surprised at the prices of the printed arm Ghostbusters
figures. Again not rare, just demand way above supply.

I own this little man in Mint condition, cape was bought in minted box and legs
were taken from the sealed set, then I put him into a little baggie and he sits
in my locked cabinet.

Back in the day I used to own quite a collection of rare parts and / or test
color items, but I also sold all those long ago:
https://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=321263

Back then I would have said these to be my most rare and precious items:
https://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=471765

In my current collection the keychain in the picture is about the rarest Lego
item I own.

Fun thread btw!

Mine is a sealed 1095, which I cannot find sealed anywhere. And I mean rare,
not expensive, though it can be expensive!

Not an official Lego item per-say, but I own the second Brickmania kit ever made.
10 were made, one was bought by a Lego exec that turned it into the first fan
designed set ever, the 3739 Blacksmith Shop.

Most of the other "rare" items I have are unopened vintage sets from roughly
the late 80s to early 2000s, of which I looked and there's at least 1
or 2 of them for sale somewhere on the internet. But geez, have prices ever skyrocketed
on stuff like that the last couple years. Sets that used to be around $300 just
a few years back are now pushing $1000.

Nope. Built once by original owner. Which is a good thing, since I do plan on
building and displaying it once I have a bigger space, and there's no hang
up on breaking the seal on it.

You might be right! Perhaps it's my recollection of him in the show I like
so much.
