| Please change part 1x in black to part 1x in black in
set 8744-1.
Part simply does not exist in black, I'm not sure why this was
changed.

I found an Element ID for the Black 47296 but I haven’t seen one. It’s possible
that very early copies of this set had the part.

I found an Element ID for the Black 47296 but I haven’t seen one. It’s possible
that very early copies of this set had the part.

An interesting development, thank you for sharing!
Would it not make more sense to have as the standard as it is the
one visible on the packaging, and in the LEGO.com instructions? There isn't
even a single image of to be found in black on the internet, nor
any sold on Bricklink. I'm fine keeping it as an alternate, but to keep it
as the standard will do nothing but confuse those trying to complete the set.

Our guidelines are to keep the earliest version of an alternate part or the
earliest parts used in a set redesign in the Regular Items section. Since a PCC
exists for the part in black, it is likely that it exists in very small quantities.
For now, the inventory will remain as it is since two sets of instructions are
known to exist.
