And an empirical method for praising today’s USPS. Elapsed time between Order
Placed to Delivered: 27 hours 19 mins

I got to chatting with our mail carrier today. First thing he said (with a heavy
sigh) after I asked “How are things?” is that he’s so damned tired… He then went
on to explain how they’re being worked 11-12 hours often 6 days a week. I then
asked (hoping to keep it positive for him) “You get time and a half, right?”
He said they do over 8 hours and double time for anything over a 10 hour workday.
But then quickly followed up with “I don’t care about the extra money, I’m just
worn-out”

I then asked “What’s your Post Master have to say about getting you guys some
more relief?” To which he replied in a despondent manner “We haven’t had a Post
Master for nearly two years now” explaining that the last one was great at keeping
the number and morale of personnel, up. That things were much better for them
having a Post Master on site. I told him in so many words, that he does a superb
job, and then warmly thanked him. Deciding as I walked away, that he’s getting
a nice bottle of whiskey from us this Christmas

Same here, I always have something ready for him at x-mas time
On my old address I even knew his family

I still want to order something, have him deliver it to me and me handing it
back as a gift.

And the next best thing would be to receive the order before you even place it.

When the system works right, things can happen overnight.

I think USPS is something many people took for granted. Go to work...come home...there
is mail in the mailbox.

Over the last 15-20 years, we're learning more about how the process worked
behind the scenes.

The carriers are doing the best they can as the network behind them is being
ripped out and replaced with something . . .

Yes, they deserve recognition for their efforts.

I'm a big fan of the USPS. I've still never had a package lost in 1,800
orders.

Looks like yours could have been delivered in almost 12 hours less time too if
they happened to have been earlier in the daily mail route.
