I keep buying baseplate 3811 in green and I get sent the bright green ones that
have a part number as 10700 on them. I know the label says green but Bricklink
shows it is bright green, which it is.
So if I buy 3811 in green and get sent 10700 that is an error on the seller,
correct?

Also does anyone know the difference in 3811 and the 10700, if they were both
white and out of the package, is there a difference?

Thanks

LEGO sometimes doesn’t refer to their colors with their official names:

Set No: 10147 Name: Assorted Brown Bricks
*
10147-1 (Inv) Assorted Brown Bricks
62 Parts, 2004
Sets: Bulk Bricks

Is called “Assorted Brown Bricks”, but LEGO uses a completely different name
for what they call Brown in that set.

The baseplate “set” just uses a general color in its title. Bricklink specifies
this.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I have seen that before, I think stone gray was one
I had to look up. I just want to find the best way to explain it to the seller

But that should not be relevant to items sold on BL.

OP bought the baseplate (and, IIUC, not the set) on BL, and it was advertised

I believe OP means set number? I was also a little confused. Part ID 10700 belongs
to a printed minifigure head from 2012.

Ah, yes, I thought it was a new alternate ID for 3811.  I should have checked.

So, yeah,

Set No: 10700  Name: Green Baseplate {Plate Included is Bright Green}
*
10700-1 (Inv) Green Baseplate {Plate Included is Bright Green}
1 Part, 2015
Sets: Classic
contains a Bright Green baseplate.
If OP ordered the set then it’s their fault.

But if they ordered the part and got sent the set (why not?  what would be the
need to remove the packaging when selling as a part?), then it’s a seller error.

And now I remember there was a fuss when LEGO made that set, as the prior ‘green
baseplate’ set was with a Green baseplate.
But the part is big enough that the colours different enough that the seller
should notice

But the picture of the set is clearly showing a green baseplate and not a bright
green baseplate - another confusion here on BL in addition to the LEGO naming
of the set...

Sellers probably just go with the information Bricklink has readily available.
LEGO needs to be more consistent with their advertising, but they’re probably
under the assumption that most buyers aren’t going to notice a difference/aren’t
too bothered by said difference. This is why it’s important to specify colors,
like how Bricklink does.

Yeah I bought part 3811 and they just called me a scumbag and said I should have
known they were bright green based on the price I paid. Oh well

Report them if they insulted you.

You may also file an NSS as they didn’t ship what was ordered.

If your order part 3811 in Green and receive set 10700 (which consists
of one 3811 in Bright Green) then the seller made a mistake.

  Also does anyone know the difference in 3811 and the 10700, if they were both
white and out of the package, is there a difference?

Not sure I understand this question. You are comparing a part to a set?

The sets that consist of just one 3811 in white are sets 11026 (Paper cover)
and 11010 (Plastic cover; retired), and there are no relevant differences that
I have noticed.

  Thanks

If it's not what you ordered, discuss, then NSS/PayPal dispute.
It shouldn't be "oh well let it be"
IMHO
