| The rules are simple. You guess, once per day, a number between one and one billion.
Next Friday at 17:00 UCT-5, I'll collect all the responses, and whoever chose
the number closest to the actual number will win a $50 (USD) LEGO gift card.
The winner will be DMed by me the card which I'll purchase electronically
through LEGO's website.
I'd prefer to only allow American users to participate since I'm not
sure I could buy a card in most other currencies, though I've given a card
to a Canadian friend via the Canadian LEGO site before. If it'll work for
you and you're not American, you can participate as well.

That's the problem of many contests.
One have no clue if the number has been picked *before* and won't change
depending... parameters.
There are ways, but it needs some Google work.
My guess: 333,333,333,333.

Tell you what.
I'll record my screen using OBS and upload to YouTube when it comes time
then post the link for proof. I'll have it generate a random number on the
spot and then flip back to an Excel sheet with all the guesses in column A, their
respective post number in column B, and the guesser's name in column C. I'll
sort the rows least to greatest by column A to make it easier to get to the correct
answer.
Sound good?

Photoshop, Premiere, Deep Fakes - or simply your own biased random generation
- you can produce any video showing any number... you've chosen (for any
reason).
But it's not serious here in BL Forum, you can propose what you wish!
As would say Cory "As long it's fun, what's the problem"?

If it comes to it, you can hit me up on Discord to screen share and pick the

All the guesses are in the public forum, some may cancel their messages, but
as soon as a number has been "picked" and the winner has been declared, anyone
can do the maths…

Nope, the number will be generated on the spot. Even I don't know what number
it'll be. It's not about getting the number right; it's about being
the closest.
I guess I'll inform people if someone's chosen a number someone
already selected so that they can pick another.
(I have good grammar I swear.)

If you have a fourth digit in a number you can use a comma 1,000 or after 6
digits if there is a seventh 1,000,000.

Yes, no, it isn't "recommended" anymore, I mean, since ermmmm 1948
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_separator
Digit grouping
The use of spaces as separators, not dots or commas (for example: 20 000 and
1 000 000 for "twenty thousand" and "one million"), has been official policy
of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures since 1948 (and reaffirmed
in 2003) stating "neither dots nor commas are ever inserted in the spaces between
groups",[29] as well as by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry
(IUPAC),[30][31] the American Medical Association's widely followed AMA Manual
of Style, and the Metrication Board, among others.
[snip] in recent years the use of spaces as separators has been advocated by
the superseded SI/ISO 31-0 standard,[33] as well as by the International Bureau
of Weights and Measures and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry,
which have also begun advocating the use of a "thin space" in "groups of three".[30][31]
Within the United States, the American Medical Association's widely followed
AMA Manual of Style also calls for a thin space.[28] In some online encoding
environments (for example, ASCII-only) a thin space is not practical or available,
in which case a regular word space or no delimiter are the alternatives.

What do you mean by "," comma?
Is that the decimal separator?
Like in all civilized Countries... just like France?
It gets Funkier but every time it gets funkier, it gets funkier.
|

Why does Microsoft Exel have a default setting that puts commas in?
Beside, my second grade arithmetic teacher taught me to put them in in the year
1955. The same year Einstein died.
