On August 26 I purchased a set/moc from Rebrickable and began buying bricks.

From August 26 till September 4, I placed 13 orders in Dutch stores. 1623 items
in 240 lots.

Here are the results.

25% of my orders contained errors (wrong part, wrong number of pieces)

Overall 75% of my orders were shipped in 1-2 days which I consider as very good.
Those sellers are of course added to my favourite list.

I'm worrying however about the number of orders that had issues.
And the low shipping speed from some sellers.

For stats, I prefer number of lots / number of parts and error bars (log scale
on parts to better see the small orders):

Out of curiosity was there a lot of overlap between fast shipping and accuracy?

Interesting. I guess some sellers prioritize fast shipping over accuracy, while
others prioritize accurate counts at the expense of taking longer to ship the
package.

For me it's not related at all.

Firstly, some ship quickly, some don't - missing a part or not.

And if a seller is missing say one or a few parts, there's almost no way
to get them quickly - it'll need like a week for example.

Apart if the informed buyer is very kind to wait for an extra week, sellers won't
delay this much the incomplete orders.

Also considering the relative importance/value of what's missing.
This for a tiny difference, of course.
A shop shouldn't ship while half of the order is missing...

And I'm not talking about us as a shop, it's what I can see almost every
day around.

Indeed.

Some sellers I've ordered from pack accurately and ship quickly.

Others take forever to ship and when the order is finally received, parts are
missing.

And then there's everything in-between.

And a small mistake on a very large order is much more forgiveable than the same
mistake on a very small order.

Besides, 13 orders is far too small a sample. In all my years of buying and selling
on BrickLink, maybe only 1-2% of orders have any significant issue.

Did the 24% of stores alert you to any problems before shipping? And did you
put them in that percentage after agreeing for them to ship? I'm curious
if that many stores "just send it" missing pieces or wrong pieces. We usually
average 2-300 lbs of unsorted bulk to draw from if our inventory is off. We also
message the buyer first if we cannot rectify the problem. That's just how
we do it though.

No, they didn't. Some errors were really silly, in the sense of getting overlooked
very easily.
For example in a bunch of 21x

Part No: 11211 Name: Brick, Modified 1 x 2 with Studs on 1 Side
*
11211 Brick, Modified 1 x 2 with Studs on 1 Side
Parts: Brick, Modified {White}
I came across 1x part of

Part No: 52107 Name: Brick, Modified 1 x 2 with Studs on 2 Sides
*
52107 Brick, Modified 1 x 2 with Studs on 2 Sides
Parts: Brick, Modified {White}

This is merely a parting out error than a picking error.

Hm it looks like a name change for 52107 is needed to better separate those two.
Perhaps: Brick, Modified 1 x 2 with Studs on 2 Sides
would be a better name for it.

Agreed on this!

To the OP - it can arrive often while sorting, and as (normally) a seller won't
examine every part he ships one by one (especially for big quantities which are
weight counted), then the shop may ship erroneous parts...

In short, it's a very common error.

I'm worrying however about the number of orders that had issues.
And the low shipping speed from some sellers.

Regarding the shipping speed: do you take into account the T&C of the specific
store to judge / evaluate? In case you don't: you should
(I ask, because I know I'm not a fast shipper, but I mention this in my T&C
(shipping within 7 days after payment).

This has already been said but I think it's important to repeat:

13 orders is nowhere near a big enough sample size to establish any accurate
statistics.

The statistic "24% of orders had errors" is meaningless. If I place 2 orders
this month and 1 of them has errors then that's 50% of orders this month
with errors.

What is considered an error must also be defined.

Well, this’s how my graph works:
Negative errors: You were expecting a part (shape & colour) or a lot, you didn’t
get it.
Positive errors: You got a part (shape & colour) or a lot that you weren’t expecting.

So, if an order is missing a lot of parts (resp. lots), there’ll be a big line
pointing down (resp. left).
And respectively for surplus parts/lots.

So, if it’s just the store being generous, there’ll only be lines on the top
and right of the order, and if they sent wrong parts/colours, there’ll be matching
lines on top/bottom and left/right.

So you can see:
— who got it right = just a cross,
— who’s ‘generous’ = a cross with error bars on top and right,
— who confused shapes/colours = a cross with matching error bars on top/bottom
and left/right,
— who ‘forgot’ lots/parts = a cross with bars on bottom and left.

So my biggest order was a ‘generous’ seller.  My second biggest was perfect.
And of the two next, one made colour/shape errors and the second ‘forgot’ lots.

The logarithm scale for parts makes the small orders more visible but squashes
the parts errors.

Both counting errors by lots or by parts make some errors look bigger or smaller.
For instance, consider a error of one part more or less in a lot and a wrong
colour error for a 100 parts lot.  If you count errors by lots, that’s 1 for
each.  If you count errors by parts, it’s 1 vs. 100.  So, should the second count
as 1 error or 100 errors?  On the one hand it’s only one mistake made by the
seller… on the other, it’s 100 parts that are wrong and that need to be resent
/ re-bought.  And the first error (±1 part in a lot) is a more forgivable error…
unless it’s actually half the lot that’s missing (ordered 2, got 1).
Hmm, maybe I should make a 3D plot with ‘percentage of the lot wrong’ in the
3rd dimension….

Also, this is for the first shipping: it doesn’t include corrections, and how
a store corrects its errors is also important.

I have had no issues with ordering from Dutch stores. 100% correctness.

25% out of 13 is 3.25 orders with errors. That's not possible.
