I’m far from a monarchist, but I wish a great representative for the U.K. well,
sad to hear that the Queen is in poor health.

Go re-check the news. She lived a productive life, even into her elder years.

She’s been an invaluable diplomat, not just on behalf of the UK but for those
of the Commonwealth as well. Nonetheless, she’s had an extraordinary long life,
one full experiences most of us could scarcely imagine. Not really worried or
even sad for her, she’s no doubt ready to move on. But…

If there’s any worrying, it’s with what the people of the UK and those of the
Commonwealth might have when considering the quality of what remains of the Royal
Family, to carry on. Which of them could possibly fill the role as Monarch with
the style, grace and dedication in which she performed those duties for the last
70 years?

I think that with her eventual passing, another institution, one she’s represented
so well for most her life, will fade further. That might be considered “worrying”
for many. Our last conversation involving “strong women” Stuart

Just to add some perspective: her first Prime Minister after becoming Queen,
was Winston Churchill. Can you begin to imagine her life experiences?

From my understanding she did not care for Churchill. Am I worng?

Yeah, her first PM was born in 1874 and her last was born in 1975!

It's funny what goes through kids' minds. My daughter just asked is the
money in her money box still valid or will she need to change it at the bank
for King Charles money before she can use it!

Strangely someone just found a bunch of 1st class stamps this morning after mislaying
them for some time.

Only minutes ago she asked if they were still valid.

Officials will be busy deciding on what changes and when.

Currency, stamps and more will slowly be phased in, not much will change immediately.

Clever question, actually. How does that work for your Treasury, will there be
such notes soon?

I assume it will be a slow process. Although I wasn't around last time it
happened! New coins and notes are made every year when needed so I assume next
year they will be Charlie ones and old ones will stay in circulation for years.
In the 1950s very few new pennies were made as there were plenty in circulation
and the value of the bronze needed was more than a penny so most of them in use
during her first decade on the throne had George VI heads instead of hers.

I remember George VI coins and the odd coin of Queen Victoria turning up in
the money my father collected in the sixties when he was an old fashioned insurance
agent.
