Hello, Lego in Europe the GWP this month is the Jane Goodall Tribute

https://www.lego.com/en-ie/product/jane-goodall-tribute-40530

Will that be a popular set? Just looking to see if I should get this gift for
resale.

I know I am asking you to look into your glass ball, but I would think that the
community has some knowledge on what will be popular or not.

Thanks

Don't really need a crystal ball. This is the second time it has been a

I would say to anyone to not get it, it only is worth it if no one else gets
them.
If everyone has one or two, prices are low, if no one gets it……..

So, don’t buy it

Yes, there are already a lot out there. It is "free" for us with a £120 purchase
and it appears to be worth about £20. So even before considering tax and fees,
that is only about 16% off, plus of course 5% VIP points. So it might be worth
it if you are buying LEGO store exclusives and cannot get a better deal elsewhere.
But I'd go for a discount elsewhere if possible as it is savings up front
without waiting for a sale. And there is already between 6 months and 1 year
worth of stock out there, at the old sales rates. Although I imagine the sales
rate will drop as most people wanting it will have bought it after the first
round. So no doubt the price will also drop a little more when more come onto
the market.

I guess they had a lot left after last time and wanted to give something to entice
people to buy at the new RRPs, after all the recent price rises.

I've been interested in the Jane Goodall set for some time, considered buying
it, and was a bit annoyed when I found out they brought it back now, after I
just got the galaxy explorer with the pirate treasure, which is a bit disappointing
imho. But then, the 10497 wouldn't be enough €€ to get Jane Goodall anyway,
so it's ok. I can sell the treasure and get Jane Goodall with the spoils...

If you compare with other similar GWP's and Limited edition sets they're
not quite as special and unique as they may first appear as generally speaking
they are widely produced and distributed in the masses

If you want my own rough estimation of value I would say that they will probably
still be knocking about for around £20-25 in 5 years time and maybe £30-45 in
ten years time so I wouldn't expect a triple figure resale value anytime
soon for these kinds of sets but who knows?
