Keep adding items, the more (different) items, the more people will have a look.
And check if your prices are in line with others in your country/neighbourhood.

| A store of your size should probably be priced about the lowest in-country.
Your sale price on the couple of figs that I checked is still a significant %
above similar condition figs in the UK from other sellers. You need to either
be happy with the slower rate of sales and higher margins, or lower your prices
to sell stuff faster.

| Ships to the US but not to Canada? You know we’re right next to each other, right?
Ship worldwide and you’ll get more orders

Don't be like DFS. This type of thing really puts me off. If you continually
post about sales, they are not sales. You have continually advertised that you
have a sale running since you opened the store. There is nothing wrong with using
the percentage off if you want to adjust prices but continually telling people
you have a sale on is likely to get any real announcements ignored.
You are currently advertising a 15% sale after having a 20% sale, so you are
advertising that you have put prices up.

It seems to me that, in English, it’s more often ‘quid pro quo’ and with
the ‘tit for tat’ meaning (or even pure and simple corruption as Latin = legal).

In (British) English, tit for tat is more like the opposite. Tit for tat is usually
negative - you hurt me, I hurt you. Whereas quid pro quo is usually positive,
you do me a favour, I do you a favour. Although I know in the US it is also used
to describe a form of serxual harassment.
But in legal financial terms it is a simple matter - I give you money, you give
me goods of equivalent value.

Thanks.
One could think Latin is the same for everybody… but it isn’t.
We don’t use ‘quid pro quo,’ we Frenchified it as a name, ‘quiproquo,’ and only
use it for ‘misunderstanding.’
And you say ‘et tu’ when we say ‘tu quoque.’
Always good to know those idiomatic usages to avoid blunders

We rarely use quid pro quo either for the you help me and ill help you meaning.
A much more common version is "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours",
often shortened to just "you scratch my back ...". It must be weird to hear that
as a foreigner and not know what it means.

I remember learning the cow one in French lessons. My teacher also used to say
things like il y a anguille sous roche when a kid was explaining why he hadn't
done his homework. It's strange what you remember for decades but never use.

Feedback from those you sell to. And don't play games with sales. Go into
Macy's, if you have them in the UK. Here everything is on sale. That is
a turn off for me to buy from Macy's.
Studies have been done that if there is a sign or advertising board along a highway,
people ignore it after a little over a week. They do not even see it anymore
unless there is a naked person on it.

We don't have Macy's here, but we do have the same sales tactics from
big stores. It is sometimes known as the DFS effect after a sofa company that
has constant discounts on their products compared to their over-inflated prices
that never get charged as they get rid of them from the sales floor when not
on sale at a discount.
Being ignored in future is the danger of continually running sales in the forum.
If I visit a BL store as a result of a forum advert about a "huge sale", and
it is not really a sale, then I tend to least favourite the store. If I enter
their store again from another sale advertisement then I get an immediate warning
that it is probably another fake sale and not worth wasting my time looking.
It also has the secondary effect of removing that seller's items from my
regular searches. And if they post every day about fake sales, they also go on
the forum ignore list.
I like to keep the sales topic turned on, as some are genuine sales.

Selling and buying on Bricklink and eBay is a crash course in business. Expectations
are usually different from reality. I really do not know how to make a profit
on BL. I looked at what the item I was selling other sellers listed and put
my item a bit below what was already listed. I do not know what the effect was
on other store sails (I sold half a million in two and a half year started back
in 2010.) But one thing I learned from managing a wholesale business was not
to play games. The price I listed something for was what I sold it for. I do
not remember, but I could have had a sale, but my prices were usually the lowest.
Also, I never considered the money mine until a month after a sale in case someone
wanted a refund. I am glad that many of my choice items went to serious collectors.
Sales should be sales and not an advertising gimmick.

I imagine those collectors also came back and paid the asking prices for second
and further orders. If a store makes me feel like I am getting a bargain on the
first order but it turns out not as good as it was made out to be, I tend not
to place a second order. Whereas when a seller treats you with respect, they
do get further orders.

| There’s a wet suit sale advertised here in Cornwall alongside a main road that
has a 70% sale that has been there for as many years as I can remember.
Has become a joke with everyone.
