Dear Bricklink fellows

Seems that some admin has decided my store needs to be suspended as many other
sellers here on the platform.

Without any notice, I got suspended due to a very angry buyer that didn't
read the store terms and the shipping costs from the Denmark to USA.

I've being in touch with the support only one response given without any
chance to move on or to understand why I shall be kicked out Bricklink after
almost 10 years on the platform and about 210 very positive transactions with
always payment of my seller fees in time!!!
Seems a new buyer with only 2 transaction can kick you out quite easly.

Got kicked out like that is quite annoying and doesn't motivate me buying
more designs, sets or other stuff from this website.

Seems I have to sell my inventory on other platforms as Brickowl, DBA, facebook,
but honestly those platforms are far from the excellent Community within Bricklink.

Sorry to hear.

That cannot be the only reason, it is still 3 strikes before you are out…

This should not be possible, there must be more to the story?

Hang in there, try and find out if you have any other strikes against you.

Good luck,

Agreed. Even if BrickLink has justifiable reasons for suspending all these shops,
their lack of customer support, follow-up, and transparency tends to make one
feel that the entire system is unfair. We can't be secure with our business
here knowing that others were dismissed without discussion or appeal.

There are things that we will not disclose in public about why stores were closed.
One example of that is fraud. If we tell a seller how we determined they committed
fraud, they will know the next time how to circumvent our system or hide what
they are doing.

We hold our sellers in very high regard and it is not in our best interest to
shut down people for no reason. We are generally very open to appeal and give
many, many second chances - probably more than we should.

There can also be legal aspect to giving too much information. So speculate
away. You can imagine any nefarious schemes you want on both sides. At the
end of the day every USER be they buyer or seller are here at the whim of the
owner of the site. I am not saying they are acting capriciously but they do
not have to give any reason for their actions. More information on their actions
while nice is not mandated. And yes some sellers livelihood is provided by this
site, the sites concern is for the sites reputation and not anyone's livelihood.

I can't help but think that there would be little to no speculation if this
was handled a bit better. A simple message to the seller at the same time as
the store suspension should make it clear as to why a store was closed. This
type of communication would certainly cut down on the "why was my store suspended?"
posts on the forum, leading to much less speculation.

Seems to me Russell’s answer is confusing three things:

1. Tell the seller why they were suspended.
2. Tell the seller how BL found what they were doing.
3. Make 1 or 2 public knowledge.

Now, because of 3, we only get the seller’s side that they don’t know why and
maybe BL thinks it’s obvious or that going into details would be the same as
2.

Thanks a lot Russell to take part of this thread/discussion.

But How do I appeal the admins decisions so I can correct what needs to be corrected,
make sure I won't do it again and serve my customer as I always have done
in the past as shown in the positive feedback.

Will be interested to move on now.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks you for your work.

a better template for communication with sellers in this situation. It appears
that many of them don't have a clear understanding of what went wrong. Also,
being told no repeatedly is better than radio silence when one is searching for

Thank you,

Bricklinks lack of action speaks volumes about their opinion of their CUSTOMERS.If
someone ignores post after post their actions, not words, are clearly representative
of their caring or their ability to listen to those they are here to serve.
It is evident they just do not care.

Agreed. Even if BrickLink has justifiable reasons for suspending all these shops,
their lack of customer support, follow-up, and transparency tends to make one
feel that the entire system is unfair. We can't be secure with our business
here knowing that others were dismissed without discussion or appeal.

Jen

There are things that we will not disclose in public about why stores were closed.
One example of that is fraud. If we tell a seller how we determined they committed
fraud, they will know the next time how to circumvent our system or hide what
they are doing.

In public disclosure is not the problem and it seems to sidestep the problems.
Not really a germane to the complaints. The complaint that is not addressed
to tell the store. Also, why would they know next time how to circumvent the
system. Closing the store gives them the same amount of time. They know what
they did, if they were committing fraud. So what sort of advantage would that
give? They already know if they are closed down.
It is not transparency to the community, but to the affected store.

We hold our sellers in very high regard and it is not in our best interest to
shut down people for no reason. We are generally very open to appeal and give
many, many second chances - probably more than we should.

Then tell the member that, no need to tell everyone. It is great you do what
you do to protect sellers and buyers. It is necessary and beneficial. Just let
the offender know why as soon as you do that. They were not all that cleaver
that they did not get caught.

There are two extremes here. Sellers that make a minor mistake without realising
and sellers that are are knowingly breaking BL terms (or PayPal terms, or
the law, etc). I imagine most cases fall somewhere between the two. Ones close
to the first extreme should probably be told what they are doing and allowed
back if they amend their ways. Ones close to the second, probably best not to
let them back.

So, for example, if they are asking for PayPal Friends and Family, then stop
them for a while, tell them why and then let them back. But if they keep doing
it after a warning, they should be banned. Whereas if they are scamming, why
bother telling them what evidence BL has and let them back?

Even then though, care needs to be taken to make sure they are not hiding their
activity after they have been caught. For example, a seller I bought from a long
time ago used to say they took paypal but once an order was placed they would
send a paypal link where the payment was for a service (intangible goods) rather
than for goods as services were not eligible for refunds. I never realised at
the time, it looked like the seller was being helpful filling in the invoice
amount and sending a payment request, when in reality they were making sure there
was no way the buyer could make a not received complaint. Paypal have cleared
up that loophole now, but I always take care when paying through paypal when
the seller does not use the onsite payment method. If a sller says they take
paypal and then asks for F+F by email or via a paypal request, then BL would
not necessarily know about it and the buyer would need to be aware enough to
report them for it.

Still waiting for my 2nd chance since I never broke any rules literally!
Waiting on admin to reply after sending proof of my situation and the correcting
my mistake that I didn't understand.
Thanks, James.

I'd say, randomly, you either sold suspicious items, or you proposed or made
an incentive for buyers to pay with PayPal using the Friend/Family choice...?

Never sold Lepin or knockoff’s LEGO, look at my feedback.
Paypal as Friend was an option in the past, however my customers never used it.

Pas de tricherie ici!

How long ago in the past? Was that still an option when your store was suspended?
Cause if it was, I can almost guarantee that's why your store was suspended.

Asking for PayPal Friend & Family payment is allowed in some (e.g. the Netherlands)
countries.

I think you're very wrong.

Much more it should be done within Friends or Family members, which, the more
often, buyers aren't.

Don't worry, PayPal is progessively removing this possibility.
For PayPal USA, they announce:

This payment type will only be available for payments sent to personal PayPal
accounts. Business accounts won't be able to receive these payment types.
This change goes into effect on July 28th, 2022.

So, in short, you can't / won't be able to receive a Friendly payment
with a Business account. Which simplifies everything.

Hi popsicle

Seems I was short lived, got suddenly got revoked again without any message why
?

Reason: Preventive Action that's only what it says on the banner of my store
now...

With all the recent positive feedback I must admit this is quite a surprise to
be kicked out...
