Is there any way in which to part out sets including their counterparts (such
as Groot, Fluffy, etc) as a single assembly, and not have those parts listed
twice (once as the counterpart, once from the main set inventory? Either Brickstore
or Bricklink parting out would be fine.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what you exactly wish, but with BrickStore you can almost do
whatever you want, either when parting out, or just after in the list (sort,
select, delete...) a few clicks.

AFAIU, they don’t want to choose between importing the Counterparts or not, they
want them imported as an assembly and removed from the Regular parts.

Import a car: get the 4x wheel+tyre assemblies but not the 4x wheels + the 4x
tyres.

One problem with that is that there’s no link between the Counterpart and its
component parts… except its inventory.  So you need to import the set inventory
with Counterparts and remove all the inventories for the Counterparts.  That
can be long if it’s not automitized.

This is exactly the roadblock that I am running into right now- to manually select
every piece for an assembly and delete them from the parts list can be... arduous,
especially if the parts are used in the assembly, and elsewhere in the set...

Yep, guessed this.

That can be long if it’s not automitized.

If it can't be automitized (hee hee automitized) there's still the manual
approach in BrickStore which is very easy.

You, you’re not lazy enough.  I’m sure it could be automAtized.

We have wanted for years to be able to A) make sure the parts in the counterpart
assembly are also in the regular sections of the inventory (sometimes they aren't,
due to variants or mistakes) and B) offer complete flexibility to break or consolidate
any individual part or minifigure (or set, book, gear) during the partout process.

So, for example, someone could part out all the normal minifigures in a Star
Wars set whole and part out the droids / robots as parts.

Or, they could select an animal assembly such as a crocodile to part out whole,
and the parts would be subtracted from the regular items. Currently we have a
rule that all animal assemblies must be listed whole in the regular section of
the inventory. This is to enable partout in the way that most sellers prefer.
But with the new functionality, those crocodiles will be moved to the counterpart
section.

This sounds like a fantastic change! Are you free to disclose where this falls
on the development roadmap?

We will implement a general tag system before there are any changes to the partout
feature. That's about all I can predict at this point.
