| Hello,
New seller here, I'm going through the process of adding all my inventory
to my store before opening it.
I have one small question that I didnt found the answer nor in google nor in
the search section.
I have many sets that had included a rubber band (mainly Bionicle ones). As for
now, the rubber bands are all missing.
The question is : is it OK to buy generic rubber bands from the hardware store
and use them as replacements in these sets ? (While warning the buyer in the
description of course)
I prefer to ask before doing something wrong.
Have a nice day.

| I think it would be better to buy the actual bands that belong to the sets. |

| Starting with the basics, if you don't have the correct rubber bands, the
sets must be listed as incomplete since not all the items in the inventory are
present.
For the slightly more complicated part, according to the rules, you are not allowed
to sell non-lego items so you can not sell the generic rubber bands by themselves.
What I'm not sure about is whether it's OK to include generic rubber
bands with an incomplete set so that the buyer can actually play with the set
and doesn't have to look for a rubber band - genuine or otherwise - themselves.

This is an interesting long term question. Rubber degrades over time. Eventually
it will not be possible to replace this original part. Even new sealed sets
would thus be incomplete.
I agree with not listing it as original and marking incomplete. A free rubber
band the correct size would probably be welcome.

I have the same sentiment. It's hard for me to get original rubber bands
for the aero nomad and I wouldn't mind using generic rubber bands to hold
the netting to the top of the balloon.

This is currently the case with the rubber part of some old train wheels.
At some point they were marked for deletion from the catalogue because of reproductions
being sold and the a lot of the current listings mention stretched, cracked,
dried etc...
I would expect modern rubber bands to last quite a bit longer than those old
ones because they seem to be made of something silicone like, but time will tell
