| Hi, Picked this up in 2001 on Bricklink, $25. Does anyone know the true story
behind them? Are they still desireable with all the coloured prototypes on the
market now? Does anyone have a clue what it's worth?

The “fake” have thrown the whole thing upside down.
But I think the original one can still bring some good money to the table.
Not sure about the new ones, but I believe the original ones had a C mark inside?
Don’t know about the new ones though….
Good luck,
Maxx
Btw, your pictures didn’t work…

| I haven't paid much attention to this, but isn't part of the reason that
they've all been taken down is that none of them should have ever made it
out into public? (even the "real" ones)?
I guess you can still sell them on ebay or somewhere else.

None should have made it out but were tolerated.
Now they are produced for the collectors' market and not as test parts and
now they all have been banned here. You can just buy whole collections of them
now, if you are willing to pay the price.

This is true, but a few escaping over several years time is completely different
than hundreds being made to sell and really getting stolen from LEGO.
Most of my 2x4 brick collection are escaped bricks, if not for those I would
not have a collection.
And we would miss an awful lot of beautiful bricks!

Nice collection

It's not mine and they are not for me. I used to enjoy the chase for monochrome
minifigs, waiting to find new parts. These figures have killed it. Every part
in every colour is available if you are willing to pay enough.

| Well you could still collect monochrome if you just get the parts that are actually
released. Easy enough to tell if they’ve been in a set. Never did anything for
me, but to each their own.

You can't tell that they are genuine parts though. They have also made rare
(and more common) minifig parts that have also been in retail sets and there
is no way of telling these from the real thing.

Such a shame! Sickening! Those guys are the lowest of the low. If I ever come
across deepfakes of mold types over the years, I will throw up in my mouth
