| Hello,
I am new to Bricklink and am having trouble with the "wanted list" system. Whenever
I auto-buy my parts list, it says that only 93% of the parts are assigned. How
do I make auto-buy assign 100% of the parts? Nothing on my list is particularly
rare and my filter criteria is very broad. I don't believe that those parts
aren't being sold at all.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but I don't get the point of "auto buy"
if it's going to leave parts out of my list. There isn't anything on
my list I'm okay with skipping out on.

Hard to say for sure without being able to see your wanted list, but by chance
have you any part/color combinations the don't exist? When I check the catalog
info for a part I can often see people with it on their wanted list in some color
that lego doesn't make.
If not, your best bet may be to find stores that sell those parts and order them
individually. The inner workings of the auto-select algorithm are a mystery,
but it is known that the algorithm takes shortcuts to arrive at an optimal solution
quicker than checking every possible combination of stores, which sometimes leads
to items getting left out even when they are in stock.

| What Im wondering is why when auto-selecting, it adds more parts than I needs
(ex: I need 300 parts, but gives me 450/ 150%)

It’s generally because of “bulk lots”: those lots have a “xNUMBER” (“x10”, “x50”…)
that means you need to buy by a multiple of ‘NUMBER’ (or the whole lot).
You need to check the selections to see that.
Also note that ‘150%’ doesn’t mean it got all the parts. You need to check in
the Wanted Items tab on the left if it really found all your lots (see (2) on
first pic here: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2445 ).
