When searching for SOME color of parts, we often find things that are counterparts
of themselves, and not real other parts that can fit into the role.

look at that:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=4185&colorID=5&in=A

An experienced fellow told me it's because the part be inside an assembly.

I suggest this should be more clearly stated.

I suggest:
a) a new section at the end (e.g after "appears as regular" "appears as extra"
"appears as counterpart") named "APPEARS INSIDE ASSEMBLIES"

b) enrich the text, from "2 in 1234-1(inv)"
"2 as assembly 4158c01(inv) in 1234-1(inv)"
giving us a way to see the assembly, plus go into its contents.

I actually don't understand why the pulley, alone, would be listed as a counterpart.
The assembly is the counterpart.

The assembly is the counterpart.

Let’s look how it works for minifigure parts: the results is the set the part
appears in and the whole minifigure it appears in.  So, you get the same set
twice, which skews the quantities¹, but at least you know that it came in a minifigure.

E.g.:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=2531&colorID=74&in=A
(¹ That part in Trans-Medium Blue is said to appear (“be known”) twice but there’s
actually only one in the set.)

There’s more and more big assemblies in Counterparts that are minifigs-but-not-minifigs
(so, not just wheel + tyre or part + sticker) and, IIUC, there’s a plan to harmonize
that (those assemblies and the minifigs).  This suggestion would be a good step
toward that harmonization.
