Comments from Submitter:
I have bought 8 boxed copies of this set from all countries to complete 6 variations of boxes with all inner trays. Have got many complete/incomplete copies.
This set comes with at least three variations of connectors but I never a wire of that length in my entire collection. The reason is that that these connectors only come with service pack 1104.

By the way, 14-cm length is too short for the alternate model of this train.

I will add the other wire- connector assembly to the catalog in future.

Why would TLG sell a servicepack with a 14 studs wire, if it can't be used
in any set?
It is in set 183 though.

The images of instructions of 183 and 7720 show the same lenght of wire (short).
7720 does indeed show a larger wire later on in the instruction, but that could
just be an instruction error.

Please provide evidence before you submit this request again.
I would like to see images of this set with alle three different wires 28 studs
long.
And please show me why the alternate model can't be build with a 14 studs
wire, so we can exclude an error in the instruction. I don't have the set
myself, but I wonder why this wire has to be put in the motor like shown in the
instruction. So help me with that please.

I gave enough evidence.

Why would TLG sell a servicepack with a 14 studs wire, if it can't be used

This service pack was meant for trains 183 and 182. 180 was sold in UK until
the end of 1980. I think this service pack was discontinued in the end of 1980.

It is in set 183 though.

The images of instructions of 183 and 7720 show the same length of wire (short).
7720 does indeed show a larger wire later on in the instruction, but that could
just be an instruction error.

What type of error? The smaller wire is not long enough for the alternate model.
I don't see what type of mistake could have happened.

Please provide evidence before you submit this request again.

I provided enough evidence here
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1338077

The wire is not visible in a sealed one.

I would like to see images of this set with alle three different wires 28 studs
long.

My multiple boxed 7720s are stored in two boxes.
Is it necessary I take them out just to take photos of wires?
As a principle, I keep parts of boxed sets as I got them.

But I know what the three variations are.
By three, I am using my memory. There may be more than three and as I am thinking
about it, I think there are more than three. Will get back to this later.

And please show me why the alternate model can't be build with a 14 studs
wire, so we can exclude an error in the instruction. I don't have the set
myself, but I wonder why this wire has to be put in the motor like shown in the

Hmmmm, let me see what I can do for that.

Diana

Wires are exchanged between sets in about 10-20% in average but it happened more
with older trains from 60s and 70s.

There are two problems with wire-connector assemblies:
- it is not clear what the length of these assemblies are considered to be. It
depended on the contributor. Some considered connectors as part or the assembly
and some didn't.
- The length of these assemblies were not exact in a set. Once I checked the
length of wires in 6 copies of 7722 I had. The shortest was about 2.5cm shorter
that the longest one.

In any case, the length of wire that came with 180, 181, 182 and 183 is much
shorter than those coming with 7720 and 7722.

This is really the first time you added evidence (you provided a link above to
this very same post with the evidence in this same reply). Over the years it
has been said to you several times to add evidence. I will try a last time to
explain and ask you to provide evidence at the time you submit new requests,
by adding images and comments in a reply to that same request.

Saying "I have bought 8 copies..." isn't considered evidence. Images are.
If a comment like above is all we get with a change request (no images), we will
have to search for the evidence ourselves. Change requests should be based on
research and evidence already though, so it would be a waste of time for admins
looking for evidence if the submitter already did.
What if we would have approved this request without evidence also and someone
else submits a change request in the future, saying I have several boxed sets,
they all have 14L wires? Provided evidence for approved change requests, is also
very usefull for future change requests. So is naming the sources and other related
comments like timelines.

We will only get correct timelines though, based on inventories of sealed sets
and approved change requests with proof.

You know hard evidence is not always needed (in cases when it's obvious because
of proven timelines for example).

In this case the 14L wires were added before, without images or links and the
instructions show a short wire first. Looking at the longer wire later in the
instructions, I thought the short wire could easily be put on the other side
of the motor, so I wanted to be sure if this was an instruction error or not.
Besides that, you added wire bb0081c28 in light gray. I believe it was for this
set, for untill now it's unknown in sets. If this change request will be
approved bb0081c14 in light gray will be unknown. With the few sets these wires
came in (or even not sets at all), we also don't have a timeline to depend
on.

Given all this, evidence is needed to delete 14L wires and add 28L wires.

Used sets are not always good evidence, because parts can be switched.
But many times sealed sets can't provide evidence indeed. In that case we
would like to see more evidence then just one used set. When checking requests
I also consider the fact that used sets can be completed, based on Bricklink
inventories (which is not the case here though).

Personally I would prefer images instead of links (or even better a combination
of both), because when links dissappear the evidence will be gone also.

I contacted a previous submitter about the 14L versus 28L and about the length
of wire needed for the alternate model. Together with the evidence you have given
now, I believe we can approve your change requests.
