| Hello,
I just made an order in which I invoiced for shipping. I received the invocie
but it seems onsite payment is now disabled, and wants to pay directly to email
adress. Is this a scam? Or am I just new to this way of doing things?
Thanks, NG

Depends on the sale.
If there are Sales Taxes / VAT involved then it should only be paid onsite so
that BL can collect those taxes.
If there are no taxes involved then you could send payment direct to the email
address, but make sure it is sent as Goods & Services (not Family & Friends).
Did the seller have Onsite enabled, but then disabled it after you ordered?
Check sellers feedback for any concerning issues.

Being that you're in the US with OMP tax collection, payment absolutely must
be made onsite. I would not proceed until the seller fixes this on their end,
and report it otherwise to Help Desk. It may not be any kind of scam, but it's
definitely not proper and good that you caught on before proceeding.

He messaged me back and siad he did have onsite payment, but no longer does,
and requested payed directly to email adress. I am thinkign it is a way to avoid
bricklink's fees. I have messaged him kindly asking to enable on site payment,
or cancel my order. Is that reasonable? Is there anything else I should do?

No, Bricklink fees will be paid anyway in case order was not canceled.

Yes that's reasonable, and they should know that they cannot accept payments
with tax collected using an offsite method, because they will collect and pocket
that money and it will not be remitted properly to BrickLink. If they cannot/will
not re-enable onsite, and they attempt to start a NPB process, please ensure
you report them. This is sounding a bit sketchy if they followed up asking you
to pay offsite again (especially if the seller is located in the US). The tax
collection is not new.
