| I want to complete an older set and would like bricks with the pip on the side
or end. How can I do this without asking every seller that has what I want that
question? It would help if there was a different catalog entry for bricks with
pip on the side or end to help determine the age of the brick.

There won't be separate calatog entries for this. We tried that years ago.
These differences are just technical not functional. Some sellers make notes
on the items about these differences, but most don't. It is a lot of work.

Here is a list of just the 2x4 brick differences I found over the years. There
are more probably

On a single shop level, I tried separating them too some time ago, it's just
too much work, and just ends up being confusing for me, and for customers. I
haven't found a different way than asking around shops; myself, I do welcome
requests like that (it shows me that the asker has a similarly weird idea of
the perfect Lego model to myself... ), but I don't ship outside the EU,
so it won't be much help to you, sorry!
I would look at shops that have either vintage sets, or lots of old pieces
that are no longer in use; those are probably more likely to pay attention to
that kind of detail.
I wonder if it would be possible to create a badge for shops, which says "vintage
specialist", "nitpicker", "obsessive compulsive sorter" or similar, to show buyers
where to find that kind of attitude?

| Would you be able to provide an image of the part you're needing?
Would like to help find a solution to the problem you described while also possibly
helping to locate the parts you need.

I believe OP said “bricks” because it’s indeed about all the “Brick”s
(1x1, 1x2, etc., and the worst is the 2x4) that had the injection point on a
side (it’s on top of a stud now).
So that’s pretty common bricks, and a lot of them.
But, yeah, OP could also post a list and hope for sellers to answer

| I know it's a lot of work because I've been doing it! It's keeping
them separate after the listing and then getting them right after the sale that
is the biggest job.

Hi I'm in Winnipeg and specialize in vintage bricks and sets. Just place
an order/request a quote and leave me a message that you are looking for vintage
bricks, with the year. I will do my best to find the pips or logos that were
available for the years you are looking for. And I have more inventory everyday
so if its not listed just ask.
Hope I can help
