I am new to ordering from overseas. How do I figure out how much if any customs
fees are due and how do I go about paying them?

I am looking for a couple older space pieces and they seem to be about 1\3 the
price from Europe even with the current exchange rate. I do realize it could
be a few weeks shipping.

I have heard buyers in the US are able to import fairly large orders without
having to pay fees, someone from the US may be able to confirm or deny this.

Here is Canada its 20 bucks. Thanks government.

U.S. limit on most goods is $2500 per shipment (Unless you are importing to resell).
The term to search for on various search engines is "Informal Entries"

I don't believe there is any limit on toys; the duty rate is zero unless
you're importing from Cuba or North Korea.

Import taxes? Zero, zilch, nada, nothing.

Apart Sales taxes, if any, but it's cool.
And generally FAR better shipping rates than the opposite (USA=EU).

Watch out for shipping costs.
Some places are much higher than others (I’m looking at you Netherlands).
Also within the same country sellers have set rates and only deal with shipping
companies (ie DHL) and not their postal service. I’ve noticed in Germany, some
sellers with minimum €20 shipping and others much lower.

So don’t get sucked in by the lowest part cost, when you can pay a few cents/dollars
more per part, but save a lot in shipping.

Thanks for all the replies.

Thanks for all the replies.

In my experience the catch is tracking. If a seller insists on tracking from
DE or NL, it’s going to be about 30 euros. Without tracking will be about 10
euros.

I’ve ordered from Europe about a dozen times and never had a problem with a lost
package, but of course the failure rate isn’t actually zero so it would happen
eventually.

It’s a hassle that you have to avoid stores that only have Place Order/Invoice
configured unless you’re willing to risk the 30 euro charge.

When in doubt; contact the seller and ask for a quote.

That was fine in 2010

Please use shops with Auto Invoicing, it'll give you the full price immediately
before you finally confirm the Order.

Some - like our Shop (insert plug here) - have multiple shipping options for
the same order, and the cheapest is provided by default, but you can pick another
one.

Hoping that helps?
