Has anyone ever printed labels and the tracking number given showed as being
delivered months ago? I have 5 in a row yesterday I sent out and one buyer asked
me why it shows as being delivered already back in January. I've never heard
of this in thousands of labels printed before. Thanks

What postage generating service made your label ?

Can you see the old usage of the tracking number, and precisely how long ago
was it (a date of Delivery would be helpful) ?

This just happened to me. Using ShipStation via Paypal.

I dropped the package off yesterday, so clearly not enough time for delivery
yet. But the tracking states the order was delivered 6 weeks ago, well before
the customer even ordered, to an address in a different state.

What a joke. Paypal shipping was working perfectly fine before they integrated
ShipStation.

Yup I never had any problems either until SS took over. Not my first issue either

yeah I can see all the old tracking info. One was Jan 22nd and early Feb. I think
the oldest was Jan 12th. I used Ship Station with paypal to print the labels

yeah I can see all the old tracking info. One was Jan 22nd and early Feb. I think
the oldest was Jan 12th. I used Ship Station with paypal to print the labels

So less than 4 months. Somebody really screwed up, and it could be ShipStations
parent company (Stamps.com ?) or it could be USPS. As the old saying goes, someone’s
gonna have a lot of splaining to do.

About 10 years back, I had some real issues with printing postage from Pitney
Bowes. It involved internet core routers, and connectivity between PB and my
small town ISP. But during the effort to understand the problem, and sort out
how to solve it, I learned a few things about PB’s infrastructure. Back then
PB, had ~32 servers that generated postage, deployed across (IIRC) 2 data centers.
At any given moment, 8-12 of the servers were offline. Which one your postage
came from, was a round-robin of the servers that were online. IOW, you could
print four labels in a row, and get 4 different servers.

Based on my decades old experience with printing non-electronic postage from
an old PB manual postage head, I extrapolated that the servers that were offline,
were because of reporting/accounting reasons. PB appeared to have a block of
postage numbers for each server, and (presumably once a day) they had to generate
reports for USPS accounting for all the postage on that server, and which numbers
were used. An audit trail if you will.

What I suspect is happening here (and this time it’s not PB) is that either USPS
gave them a block of numbers that was not yet due for recycling, or stamps.com
screwed up and generated postage from a block that should not have been used.

Remember, First Class, Priority Mail, and Express Mail each come from different
sequential blocks, and those shall not be reused until 4 months have passed.
Packages with signature come from different blocks of numbers, and those would
not be recycled for one year. Since there are multiple sellers here discussing
this, and all of them are using ShipStation, it kinda says they reused a block
of numbers that had not yet expired. Fun times.

At least one person was using Stamps.com - but yes, Stamps.com is ShipStation's
parent company.

I just chatted with Pirate Ship (which uses Pitney-Bowes) support and they say
they're not currently having any issues of this kind. And they quoted me
the same time frame (120 days) for recycling.
