| Would you rather…
1. See BrickLink raise its seller fees to, say, 10% of the grand total, or
2. See advertisements on BrickLink.
Methinks BrickLink could use a little bit of TLC right now. With the TLG acquisition,
many thought that that would bring additional investment to the site, but two
years later not much has changed.
Personally, I would rather see an increase in seller fees. Sites with too many
advertisements are just as unusable as BrickLink, and sellers can always raise
prices to cover the additional cost.
That being said, BrickLink is still a thriving marketplace. Over a million registered
users, many of whom just signed up in the past couple of years.

No. There'd be no reason for this.
Even if they've hired 10 developpers full time, they still very probably
make a (very) decent profit of it.
And as you said, there's not much which have changed that could justify this.
Even the MOC shop was closed.
| 2. See advertisements on BrickLink.

LEGO won't do this; they wouldn't associate even by chance their name
with a bad brand or products they could be a problem with their public, mainly
chidren.
Also - I feel it's Sunday, you've no idea what to talk about but need
to talk, so you're posting a new Certified Troll silly discussion

Adverts i- I'd stay along as they are not too diverting. Although lego advertising
other products on its site would be a bit strange. I could see clone brands paying
a fee to be advertised by lego!
Increase in fees - I'd sell elsewhere. With all the offers on ebay recently,
it is cheaper to sell sets, minifigs and job lots there compared to BL plus paypal
fees. For parts, I'd use brickowl.

Yes, if BL charged 10% in fees than it would be higher than feebay (currently
12.55%) unless BL charged those fees and managed payments as part of that
10%. 13.49% to sell on BrickLink? I think not

Here ebay keep doing promos every other weekend. Typically 80% off fees, so about
3% plus 30p fixed fee. So ebay is better value already here if you play it right.

You don't have to worry, because neither will happen. There is a lot going
on behind the scenes that you have no idea of. Things are definitely happening,
but they take time to happen. LEGO finally has full control of BrickLink as of
earlier this year. In other words, the old regime is finally no longer at the
helm. And this time, they are actually listening to the community, as there are
panels of buyers and sellers having meetings with BrickLink concerning the Catalog
and the Marketplace. There are some very cool things being worked on, but I can't
say more for now.

No one can - thanks for your comments randy. Lots is going on and in time all
wail be revealed, but things do take time especially with the small development
team that is available and the compliance issues which continue to take time.
BTW there have only been 3 owners not 4 Dan, JK and now TLG. Lots has already
changed with the sales tax and vat implementations and more is going to in due
course and after thorough testing has taken place. Patience is a virtue etc etc
etc.
TLG are very much working on lots of good things for all of us.

Another one, albeit more flowery
I believe Ole is correct with "on it's fourth owner by now" Didn't Jay
acquired ownership from Dan's parents? Eliska was nonetheless at the helm
as CEO for a time.
btw, not cool correcting another's details to dismiss the more salient
point being made.

Dan, then Eliska/his family, the late Mr. Nexon on and now TLG. Btw, that's
four
And in that time (more than a decade ) VERY little have changed as on online

I think they should have a profit sharing system that shares with sellers, or
possibly a fee refund system based on profit. But that doesn't answer your
question.
Since I am a buyer, and likely will never want to deal with all the hassles of
being a seller, of course I would rather see an increase in seller fees over
advertisements, unless the advertisements were only for the Lego Group, and non
invasive.
I recognize that increasing seller fees will likely lead to an increase in seller
prices as well, so it will not have zero impact on buyers.

no no no. All this would do would cause a mass exodus over to Brickowl, which
would mean less orders to get the 10% off of, which would mean bricklink is still
no getting much extra money, if any.

| I rather have bricklink monetize on cosmetic features for Stud.io or the website.
It's been a while that i have used Stud.io but i in LDD we had backdrops
for you models and a explode button. Darkmode or UI skins in general would be
cool as well both for Stud.io and the website.
My recommendation is letting users customize there experience for a low price.
Either by themes/skins or by giving an option to have people customize their
profile or store page.
