1x1 plate with a stepped stud, bottom of stud is normal diameter/height. On top

There is a moulding pip on one side of the plate, so it probably an old part.
Could it be a part of an assembly?

If it wasn’t so small it might have had a part number which would have given
us a clue as to any assembly, this will keep us guessing I suspect.
