| Hi. I'm totally new to this side of the LEGO community. I'd like to
find out what I need to do to order a bunch of parts for a building I want to
create. I have a .pdf of the parts I need but don't know how to proceed.
Any advice would sure be welcome.

Welcome to Bricklink!
The first thing you should do is create a "Wanted List." Then you should be
able to search for the parts listed in your pdf, using the top Search bar. (Hopefully
your pdf has text that's easy to copy and paste.)
Once you search for an element, you can then add it to your Wanted List. You
can specify how many of that element that you need, as well as the condition
you are looking for. (Used/New/Any)
Once you have populated your Wanted List, there are a couple of different ways
to find which shops have the most pieces you need, so that you can order from
as few shops as possible.
Also, don't be afraid to keep asking questions. There are a lot of people
here who are ready to help answer them!

Another thing, it's worth checking whether whoever provided your PDF parts
list also has an XML version - you may have seen it and overlooked it as it wasn't
in an obviously useful format. If there is, you can upload this directly into
a wanted list to save searching for parts manually, though you might still want
to set the new/used condition (which you can do in bulk in the wanted list).

Or a .io, .lxf, .ldr, .mpd model file.
Or a .bsx (BrickStore/Stock).
