| In the Store status in the seller settings, it says you can set a 'closed
message' for valued buyers - how do you set which buyers are 'valued'?
Or maybe this is set automatically by the system using some setting like repeat
buyer?

All buyers are valued. 😉

| Yes, of course they are. But there are regular buyers who I would like to give
the store password to (without emailing everyone).

The message isn't just for valued buyers, it is anyone that looks at your
store. They don't have to be valued or even buyers.

But help topic completes that valuation when talking about selling privately
"To sell privately, close your store, type in a password for your store and then
e-mail the members you wish to sell to your store password. They will be able
to "unlock" your store while it is closed and buy from it by typing in this password
in your store."
So then that message becomes indeed what your valued (the ones that you sent
the password) customers would first see upon entering your store.
By the way; One nice usage of this closure feature is giving the password to
everyone publicly in that closure text. It's better than stating that you
will not be able to process the orders for some time in the terms, you make sure
that it's always read that way. (I've seen this in one store closing
for Christmas and applied to my 2-3 days absence once)
That private selling activity is also interesting ; MOC builders & shops that
just add new stock arrange it to use I guess.

Which is why BL's implementation of this is simplistic (in the extreme) and
bound to lead to unintended consequences. BL has grown (massively) of recent.
The number of potential corner situations has grown. A better solution would
be based on tokens, where a token could be issued to each buyer you want to grant
special access to (or discounts or whatever) and revoked as need be, without
impacting other tokens.

Wilbert and yorbrick are correct.
Actually ever paid attention to those words, before. But do use the feature regularly.
The word blindness just reminds me of what of I sometimes am able to forget,
my brain damage.
Your perspective is understandable, though. The adjective although not wrong,
can be misleading. That message is seen by all that visit your closed store.
For the author of the sentence, the Buyer is valued by the Seller.
