This is very intimidating to me, and I'm a retired computer programmer!

I would love to see step-by-step instructions, starting with the foundation of
the whole process. For example, should I change all my inventory, which is currently
all "manual"? I started out on Bricklink only selling sets, therefore manual
worked best for me. Now I have lots of parts that I would like to sell through
Instant Checkout, but still keep manual for the sets which are often heavy or
over 12 inches. Should I first change the shipping settings, before I change
the inventory? I would be more experimental if there was a way to test my settings
before putting them out there for buyers.

Thanks, Jerri LoTempio

O rly ?

So, it's both complicated, and simple.

You need shipping method(s) that will properly contain the items you have to
sell, and give choices to the customer at check out. It gets really gnarly because
BL does not support USPS zones. Supporting USPS zones is dirt simple, but BL
is unable to make it happen. Go figure. So you have to come up with some medium
price, for each weight band, with the full knowledge that stuff going to zone
8 will exceed what you're charging the customer and stuff to zones 1,2,3
will charge them too much. Then expect that the box dimensions need to be adjusted
a bit, to account for overhead. For the most part that's it.

P.S. If know what a 5081 card is, then we are from the same era.

Nita, I must have lugged around at least a ton of them at Miami-Dade College
.... We were thrilled to get a one line at a time data entry monitor/keyboard
system.
