As I was going through a box of my old doll house play food I came across some
sandwiches, which looked like they had been part of a LEGO set.
I started looking in the Bricklink catalog to try to identify where these pieces,
and the idea of putting them together as a sandwich, had come from.

The cheese (the foam yellow piece) catalog listing (bb0931) is missing the set
it came in. It is listed as "Scala Cheese" but I never owned a Scala set, and
the crate I found this piece in had not been open since I started buying individual
LEGO pieces on sites like Bricklink. I knew I did not get this piece from a
Scala set.

I continued searching on each of the foam pieces and I came across a Scala puppy
set which also included another (non foam) piece used in the sandwich (33286).
Looking at all the sets that contained this piece, in Orange, I found the set
with the sandwich, a Belville set. I had purchased multiple Belville sets, so
this made sense.

Next I looked at the inventory list for the Belville Set (3159). The cheese piece
was not listed, but the foam sheets were. All the sandwich filling was foam.
None of the individual foam pieces were listed.

It would be useful to add the pieces that are included with this foam instead
of just putting N/A in the "Item Consists of" section.

This is #14 on our Catalog Roadmap under "Projects Under Consideration". I have
almost every set of foam sheets to complete this project (missing only 2), but
I just need time to eventually get to it.

Cheers,

With the ever increasing product range that Lego produces each year and limited
manpower, it is just hope that any of these will come forward, but it is better
good than quick what counts here on BrickLink.

If we are truly honest with ourselves, most things on that list are "nice-to-haves"
and not required to run a successful BrickLink. Many of them are to improve the
historical accuracy of the site or to make some things better for obscure areas
of the catalog, but many of them will not do much to make the site more money
or drastically improve the experience here.

All-in-all, I am happy that we are able to continue to improve things in these
areas every year even if it isn't too much at a time. We have added multiple
new colors in the last couple of years that have greatly improved set accuracies
in many areas (and there are more to come), numerous inventories that had random
part entries were finally completed in ways that made orphaned entries easier
to find (such as Bionicle sets that are coming into vogue again as the original
kids during that era now have grown up), things get restructured and reorganized
in meaningful ways (games from gear to sets, part movements, etc.), improper
splits from the past are being corrected, and so on.

Yes, the pace of change is slow, but there is change. And we still manage to
keep up with all the new stuff with pretty amazing accuracy from all of our wonderful
contributors. The wondeful thing is that we are not lacking for contributors
where we were once starting to. We keep getting more and more people jumping
in to do things, so that is a very positive sign.

One thing that is of particular note in the last year is the tens of thousands
of weights and packing dimensions data points that have been filled in by users
within the last 8 months. All of that data will only help sellers and buyers
more and more as it gets flushed out and integrated into the tools here.

Cheers,
Randy

I just wanted to say that it's really nice to hear such positive things are
happening on our site. It's such good news that things are going well. Slow
and steady!

Good things have to be said too, there is a lot of work done in the catalog and
seems in the forum we just complain about things... So thanks to all the contributors
making BL a better place, cheers!

Be careful, do not 'cut the cheese.'
