Please make changes to the following inventory:

Minifig No: sp006new2 Name: Classic Space - White with Air Tanks and Motorcycle (Standard) Helmet, Logo High on Torso (Second Reissue)
*
sp006new2 (Inv) Classic Space - White with Air Tanks and Motorcycle (Standard) Helmet, Logo High on Torso (Second Reissue)
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space

* Delete 1 Part 3626cp01 Yellow Minifigure, Head Standard Grin Pattern - Hollow Stud
* Add 1 Part 3626bp01 Yellow Minifigure, Head Standard Grin Pattern - Blocked Open Stud

Comments from Submitter:
This minifigure should have the blocked head instead o the hollow stud. I verified this from multiple sealed sets.

Yes I saw that, however:
1) what is "B" and "C" style head.
2) But why?
All the sealed set that I have only have "blocked open stud head". None of them
have "hollow stud head".

My reason 1) Hollow stud head is a much newer mode which came out much later
than this set.
2) All the other new reissued version spaceman (black, yellow, red, blue) have
blocked open stud head. Why only this white new version 2 is different? Why this
one is so special and could carry a head which was issued several years later?

Based on that, I think the "b" and "c" version of head co-exist in the inventory
is a mistake that needs to be corrected.

BrickLink minifigure inventories do not allow for Alternate parts. The best solution
we have is to make the note in the inventory which has already been pointed out
to you.

Thank you. That makes sense. I don't have the first set that you referred
to. But I am purchasing four of that first sets now to see what kind of head
it has. If both sets have the blocked open stud, then still this inventory is
wrong.

Someone in the past found the minifigure in a sealed set with the hollow stud
head, so the inventory is not "wrong". The BrickLink site functionality just
does not allow us to put alternate heads in minifigure inventories. Therefore,
the inventory is technically "right" with either a blocked open stud or hollow
stud head in the inventory.

Thank you very much for kindly reminding me. I believe what you said is correct.
I am still buying it though because I want to see the difference in details myself
between these two versions of the VIP set that I have and the newer 2014 sets.

And yes I did looked up and see that the hollowed stud head came out much earlier
than I thought to be.

So now here is the question: If the 2014 small set version is different as the
VIP version in 2012, why should not there be another category of this figure?

Instead of sp006new2, the newer version of the 2014 version should be sp006new3?
Now I must compare these two figures in two sealed sets and know what other difference
that they have. It is such an OCD TYPE of motivation, haha.

GOOD to know that a lot of person in BL forum is just as nerdy as me (And they
are not only knowledgeable but even remember all the posting history of a head
in a set so they are nerdier than me 100 times) )))))

There are a LOT of minifigs that got caught in this transition or the one before
from solid to blocked and it was decided that this detail alone is not enough
to make a separate minifig that a broad majority of people wouldn't care
about.

Hello,

I can certainly appreciate your enthusiasm for this catalog project. However,
there are still a couple of details you may not be understanding.

The minifig in question appears in 2 Sets and 1 Gear. At some point, a member
reported that they found the other variant of minifig head and the inventory
note was added to accommodate that. Alternative parts in minifigs is a problem
area in our awesome little database here, but our admins have devised the best
solution with the tools they have available to keep inventories and part-outs
accurate.

It was decided that creating new minifig entries for every instance of these
alternates would create more problems than it would solve. Many sellers do not
wish to differentiate between these slight variations with LEGO molds.

This message regarding the 'b' or 'c' style is a standardized
approach and appears in likely hundreds of minifig inventories whose production
spanned the overlap of these molds. This is not an issue with just this one figure
that you can research and solve.

If I were you, I would let this one go. However, it is great that you are learning
about our catalog. There are many other detail-oriented LEGO enthusiasts here!

Good luck,
Jen

You can submit the alternate head as an alternate in the set inventory instead,
minifigs invs can't have alternates.

How to add alternative parts? I am very new here actually. I spend about several
hours to find out how to submit the request.

If you haven't yet and that's the only reason, don't. Someone has
already done it. That's why there is an inventory note. And you are unlikely
to find a blocked open head in a 2014 set.

--------------------

Does "a" style means solid stud, "b" means blocked open stud, and "c" means hollow
stud?

This is my guess. I am a little confused about this "a" "b" "c" category.

This minifigure should have the blocked head instead o the hollow stud. I verified this from multiple sealed sets.

In which set(s) did you find the figure with blocked open stud?

Thanks and sorry for being a bit late here, I'm very busy with new set inventories
at the moment.

As already pointed out, the figure came with a hollow stud head ("c style") in
set

Set No: 5002812 Name: Classic Spaceman Minifigure
*
5002812-1 (Inv) Classic Spaceman Minifigure
2 Minifigures, 2014
Sets: Space: Classic Space
so its inventory is not wrong. I have still accepted your requests because we
can be sure the figure first appeared with a blocked open stud head ("b style")
in

Gear No: 2855028 Name: Magnet Set, Minifigure Classic Space White Figure - with '...in space since 1978' Base
*
2855028 (Inv) Magnet Set, Minifigure Classic Space White Figure - with '...in space since 1978' Base
Gear: Magnet: Space: Classic Space
and I think it is nice to have everything in chronological order.

I also added the set numbers to the inventory note of

Minifig No: sp006new2 Name: Classic Space - White with Air Tanks and Motorcycle (Standard) Helmet, Logo High on Torso (Second Reissue)
*
sp006new2 (Inv) Classic Space - White with Air Tanks and Motorcycle (Standard) Helmet, Logo High on Torso (Second Reissue)
Minifigures: Space: Classic Space
and added the hollow stud head as an alternate part to

Set No: 5002812 Name: Classic Spaceman Minifigure
*
5002812-1 (Inv) Classic Spaceman Minifigure
2 Minifigures, 2014
Sets: Space: Classic Space

That is all we can do here. We don't create separate catalog entries for
minifigures with different head types because probably all minifigures released
during the transition period from blocked open stud to hollow stud (~2011-2013)
can be found with both variants so we would end up with hundreds of "duplicate"
entries.

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense!

I think now it looks good because now the sp00Xnew series are all in uniform
format with blocked open stud head , with the note for the alternative parts!

Today is my birthday too and happy to see on BL that the inventory is updated
today

CHEERS!
