| hello, bought from a Canadian seller and the package is still not delivered (almost
1month+). He said there is no tracking since it is a lettermail. Is there a way
to check the parcel like reference number from the receipt of the seller?

It's not surprising that it takes time, no planes... Be patient, could be
3 months...

Lettermail means that the seller put your order into an envelope and stuck on
the postage stamps and dropped it in a mailbox. There is nothing registered with
the mail services.
Unless your order was documents, i.e. instructions, it should not have been sent
internationally as lettermail in my opinion. For one thing, sending by lettermail
means it is unlikely that a customs declaration was included and that could result
in a delay if the order is stopped in customs. It might even get sent back to
the seller.
Lettermail is a great option within Canada, but I would never use it for an international
order, as the risks to the buyer is too great.

| Actually, it is not an international shipping. I used a Canadian address (forwarding
company). I've been using that address to buy from Canadian sellers and it
is working fine/successful deliveries. This is my first time to encounter a very
long shipping.
I placed order last Sept 27 from Ridgewat to Scarborough.

OK, so no tracking. Do you have some kind of a special ID number, that is part
of the address, to tell the freight forwarder who it's supposed to be forwarded
to ?
It could be that the seller forgot to put that on the package, and the freight
forwarder has no idea who it belongs to.

I should not have assumed this was international. Apologies.
Lettermail within Canada shouldn't take more than 10 business days at most.
I've never experienced mail actually being lost in Canada. I would think
a more likely scenario for such a delay in delivery means that something made
it unable to be delivered, (incorrect address, insufficient postage) and it will
eventually be returned to the seller.

Emphasis probably on "should" - unfortunately we sporadically see delivery times
well over 10 business days. Our record currently stands at 6 weeks going about
60km within Alberta (that was pre-covid and in the middle of the year).

Same here - not a single piece of mail got lost (well over 9,000 shipments).
Knock on wood...
Niek.
