Happy Friday Everyone!

I came across a part in my Galidor bin today and want your opinion on it. I have
a normal one and the one at question in a photo below. It looks like there was
some sand green in the machine when the part was made, leaving about half of
it in a sand green-like color. Thanks in advance!

Galidor was, IIRC, LEGO's first foray into manufacturing in China. The sets
arrived at the stores extremely late, because there was a dock-workers labor
dispute (on the west coast of the USA) and ships backed up unloaded (similar
to what has been happening there recently, but for a different reason). I'm
inclined to agree that it looks like sun (or some kind of light) exposure, that
caused the color to shift.

discolored for one reason or another. If it were a mix of 2 colors it would have
a much different appearance than what you show.

Ok, thanks guys! That is interesting, I didn’t know that they were actually made

the box of a sealed TDN Module I have and it says Made in China. The more and

why it gets so much hate…

Because it’s not “LEGO,” it’s action figs?
There’s nothing to build.  It’s mostly not compatible with anything LEGO.
And to top it off, the figs are creepy.

But then, most of that can also be said for Znap, or even more for Bionicle /
Hero Factory.
And Bionicle has its fans, so I’m surely wrong

Nothing to build?? Well... I won't argue with the creepiness. But I did really
enjoy the show as a kid, shame it was canned.

Okay, I’ll rescind if you tell me:
1. How many of the parts in the pseudo-scorpio are Galidor.
2. And how many of the other parts were available when Galidor was alive.

(The other “build” looks even creepier than the originals )

Can’t know, I don’t think it was even aired hereabouts… yeah, no French title
on imdb.

(And I would have known: it would have run at the same time as Totally Spies,
Martin Mystery, Oggy and the Cockroaches or Space Goofs… er, and I totally didn’t
watch any of those, no siree, too occupied with my studies, absolutely….)

I think they are all on YouTube. My kids watched them that way a few years back.

Okay, I bow: one can build things with Galidor pieces… provided the things are
a pseudo-scorpio or ugly figures

ZNAP was actually a decent construction idea from LEGO. It failed for several
reasons ... First LEGO had difficulty during that era, and abandoned it way too
quickly. I think LEGO viewed K*NEX as a prime competitor, which they were not.
Second, LEGO never explained it well, even with the dense construction booklets,
the Zen of building with ZNAP was never conveyed, only the steps to achieve a
specific model (or models). Lastly, this was towards the end of the era where
LEGO was primarily dependent on B&M retailers. The online presence was just then
beginning to build out. Those few B&M that carried ZNAP (primarily TRU in the
USA) didn't see the sales to justify the shelf space, so out it went.

In my own view, ZNAP can outperform Technic for structural integrity, and do
so with fewer pieces. There are a surprisingly small number of unique pieces
in the ZNAP universe, maybe 25 (catalog browse page shows 21, plus there are
a few wheels).

LEGO probably still has the molds, and I wish they would issue a 25th anniversary
set, but I'm not holding my breath.

Brickset has a good opinion piece why they think it's bad.

I think people hate it more now than back in the day, even if they've never
seen it. It has become a trend to hate on the odd theme that wasn't "real"
LEGO made at the time LEGO was in trouble. It is a different style of play, being
large action figures rather than building bricks, and didn't help that the
TV series was a bit of a flop.
