Very disappointed the seasonal calendar dudbt make the cut. I feel They may have
had a better chance if some things had been different. I dont want to use the
term rigged or unfair, but for 1 the Venetian house set got snuck in at the last
minute. Not sure if it would have made a difference if that set wasnt there and
it was the western set instead but theres no way of telling. 2. And this one
Im torn on because I ordered it. But apparently the Clockwork Aquarium set makers
were telling people that if they didnt log in they could order multple sets.
This is kinda shady. And with such a low price point it is definitely doable.
I feel the only way to make this right is to open it up for a sixth set. Let
the next set be made that reaches 3000.

It is an interesting experiment to see what AFOLs want in these sets. Four reasonably
large and detailed buildings. Then a fight between two somewhat similar display
sets - one small and one large. And the smaller one got funded. Or maybe people
just prefer fish to calendars.

When I see the calendar, I just see loads of bits that have to be hidden away
for most of the year and a calendar that will probably be a pain to change every
day with bits falling off each time it is used.

Exactly. I was tempted to preorder it at first, then got to thinking about how
I"d probably change it for the first week, then it would just sit there collecting
dust.

It was a really neat idea, to be fair, but I don't really see the practicality
in it.

I don't get any of the sets meeting the treshold as they were all so expensive.
The windmill doesn't even include any minifigures. Perhaps the exclusivity
is an appeal to many?

But ok, to each his own, and kuddos to the creators and those who got the set
they wanted (I was about to order the Lego store but it's apparently sold
out for Europe ).

The others don't really include any interesting minifigures, as all the parts
are existing ones. Presumably the minifigures are not the driving force behind
the sets, which is quite nice, that it is about the build rather than the figures.

Price per part was not too bad on any of them, it is just that they are all so
big that makes the whole thing appear expensive.

The sales figures really show that fans wanted a large LEGO store building. I
am amazed that LEGO never figured that out for themselves and did not do it themselves.
They could have probably sold many more if it was their own wider release, and
could be on the shelves for years and still remain popular.

The windmill was my favourite set in the design program. It had nothing to do
with exclusivity, but simple love of the set. I like fantasy and medieval themes,
and I'm big into alternative energy - in a previous job I designed a wind
turbine. I think this set will fit in well with both the Vestas wind turbine
and the blacksmith shop, both already part of my collection. Lastly, I find the
set beautiful. Although the lack of minifigures is disappointing, I have plenty
of castle minifigures to choose from when adding some on my own. I hope that
helps.

Me to, I put my pre-order in for Seasons In Time. Oh well, c'est la vis.

It is interesting how people's opinions differ. The Modular Lego Store really
doesn't look that special to me, the PAB wall is completely out of scale
to the minifigures and the rest of the building IMHO and yet it raced to funded
status.

I guess I should just see it as £180 saved. I wonder when I'll get the order
cancelled e-mail?

Personally, I don't see why this whole thing had to be a competition. I think
that any set that made it to 3,000 preorders should have been produced.

my 2 cents,
Jen

Off the top of my head, for each set produced, you add:
— box design,
— instructions design,
— production line design (how you fill the bags, the box, and how you ensure
there’s bricks to put in them),
— fit the production line in the schedule,
— and surely many other things I have no idea about.

So I get why they limit to 15 sets, and not 20.

I guess they could have avoided competition by saying what the 15 to be produced
were, but took the chance to give buyers the opportunity to put their money where
their mouth is and make it a race to the threshold. But then, didn't they
choose which non licensed ideas were allowed to go forwards at the start, knocking
out some before the competition started.

I liked the Quest Builder, but the price? Seriously? And I am not interested
in a parts breakdown showing how much it would cost on BL to buy the parts.
The point of sets are to get something you like and for less then buy parts piecemeal.

The Seasons in Time Calendar was the only one that I wanted. I am very disappointed.

The decisions to unevenly split the crowdfunding sessions and limit the number
of sets produced put an artificial threshold on the number of sets that would
have actually reached the goal if the sessions had been functioning as TRUE crowdfunding
campaigns. It was a completely asinine decision to pit the sets against each
other in this race to the finish line, instead of allowing customers to actually
choose what they want. The calendar was obviously well on its way to reach 3,000
selections within 1 day, and likely would have (and still could, if given the
chance) meet the maximum 10,000 production run over the 35 day session span.

I voted for the calendar and it was my top choice from the list. I understand
why some people don't like it, but I've wanted this from the time it
popped up on Ideas.

One thing I noticed was that this list appears to have had many expensive sets.
Perhaps those who would have ordered the calendar, already ordered the other
sets. Most people only ordered one this time around. Case in point, the Lego
Store modular sold out pretty quick.

I've wanted this set since the first day I saw it on the Idea's site.
I originally thought that no matter which batch it ended up in that it's
unique design and difference would allow it to make it through no matter what.
Obviously that was not the case and I'm disappointed for sure. This batch
or sets was so heavily loaded there was bound to be one or two sets that where
big that didn't make it. Don't get me wrong, I love the fish tank and
it was one of the three that I ordered (two made the cut), but my first choice
would have been the Clock. Had the clock been in the first or third round with
what's left I think it would have made the cut. Unfortunately there isn't
much we can do now but hope that BL will at least allow the designers to release
instructions or something in the near future instead of holding them for a few
years do to licensing. My desk will be empty until then.
