| Hey everyone! In my opinion and please do let me know what you think there should
be some rewards for people who catalogue and inventory for the site. Since they
are the ones really keeping the site alive. They both help the sellers and the
buyers which result in more sales for the site. As a seller, I am also willing
to contribute to the rewards these people should deservedly get.

You can always look at who has listed whatever sets you are interested in, contact
the submitter and pay them.
The downside of rewarding volunteers is that there will be a rush to grab the
right to inventory any new sets, then upload Inventories that are available elsewhere
rather than doing a good job by actually checking the Inventories like the dedicated
people do now. Any financial or reward incentives will lead to people doing it
for as many incentives as they can get rather than doing it well.

I would argue that financial incentives are what will make people do a good job
not vice versa.

Interesting. As I pointed out to you earlier, your store is the biggest time
waster on bricklink- attracting buyers with low prices who then abandon their
carts because of your unusual and unexpected store terms.
Now you value peoples time and want to reward them?

I don’t know how this has to do anything with my store but if you want me to
explain, the only term I have is 2 figures max as they are the lowest prices
in the US. It’s a give and take . Cant have one without the other as other stores
will buy us out and up charge the figures . I also have to make a profit . I
don’t ship people LEGO for fun. On top of that i really don’t care what other
sellers think about my terms . I mostly care about what buyers think . Maybe
focus on your own store? I’m going to take your business if you don’t .

That's not your only term. How in the world is someone allowed to list something
as 100% complete if in the store terms it is stated that it's unknown if
sets are 100% complete.

The sets are complete . Admin Russell and I already had a discussion about this

Plus I have sold hundreds of sets on this site . Do you see my customers complaining

Funny thing is the only people complaining are my competitors.

| Anyone who has worked with volunteers knows that they are truly wonderful people,
who make their contribution for a variety of reasons. For most of them, the
rewards are intrinsic, rather than financial or material.
two excellent ways to support volunteers are to a) Tell them they are appreciated
and b) volunteer yourself.

A highly profitable website owned by a multi-billion dollar company shouldn't
rely on volunteer work for it's infrastructure.
In the early days when the site was owned by Dan Jezek and still getting on it's
feet, I'd agree, but now it would be good to give people incentive to contribute.
I think a credit towards selling fees for their efforts would be great.

Exactly . And it’s not like they will be wasting money . The more it’s incentivized
, the more people will inventory for the site thus increasing BrickLink’s catalogue
faster and increasing sales .

Accuracy rather than speed is important. Especially where there are subtle differences
in parts that LEGO ignores and someone rushing to get the job done to maximise
their reward by just copying parts lists from LEGO without buying the set will
miss such details. And that would happen, as soon as there is a reward forr all,
people would be reserving as many sets as they can for inventorying whether they
have them or not.

Sellers already have a reward: being able to part out the set (therefore making
profit on the sale of its parts).

There is a reward that most people don't know about. It is governed by the
Inventory Subsidy Program which has been going steadily for several years now.
Members who become Registered Inventories Verifiers are eligible to be reimbursed
for certain classes of sets that they provide inventories for (100% including
tax). After doing the inventory and providing documentation - which requires
that the contributor physically build the set - they then may keep that set and
are free to do with it as best suits them.
To become an Inventories Verifier, one must have submitted a number of reliable
inventories or correct change requests.

I spent few hours to find out if there is any set I could buy and do its inventory
and فاثدو get a refund for the set. But no set fit into this inventory subsidy
program. This program is designed in a way that almost no set can be qualified
for a refund so I totally gave up with this.

At some times during the year there will be less available. But right now there
are about a dozen sets that qualify - from Friends, City, Creator, Ninjago, and
Disney.

It’s an idea that’s fundamentally a good one, if done right. There’s been those
here in the forum over the years, willing to pay members to do the catalog-thing.
With some offering to send a copy of the new set to expedite the process. In
other words, free set plus pay.
Understandable for those that are here solely to turn-a-buck, and that make sizable
investments in volume set purchases, I did much the same in our heyday. Though
I never used the forum to seek the willing, I did however contact members directly.
To then used the same members (if performed well) with subsequent sets thereon.
In other words, a standing offer that paid well. But that was a decade ago, I’m
certain motivations for such have change since.
For those of us that bought up sets where we could (you know, the evil ones)
having that investment sitting idle while waiting for the ability to realize
some return, unsurprisingly rubbed some the wrong way. Personally, I took the
attitude from the very beginning here on BL, that if I’m gonna spend time and
money doing this, it’s gonna been painless and maybe even fun. So I avoided those
types of anxious thoughts by moving any such purchases into storage for the longterm
position.
