| Orders equal to or below £135, BrickLink collects 20% at checkout
Orders over £135, VAT is due at customs.
Note that if the order is over £135 and you pay VAT at customs, you'll also
get hit with an admin charge. Can't remember exact amount but approx £9.

You shouldn't do if you have already paid it at BL. But sometimes it will
happen. If the correct paperwork is present, either refuse the delivery or accept
it and pay and make a complaint to HMRC/courier. If the correct paperwork is
not present, you can refuse or accept and pay and then ask the seller for a refund
of the second lot of taxes that you had to pay due to their error.

In Canada, you don't need to refuse the parcel or to pay and then request
a refund from seller. Here we can request an adjustment from customs. They will
contact us and we provide all documents and explain why we think the import taxes
are not correctly charged.
Even if the seller does all the work as instructed by Bricklink, the buyer may
still get hit by vat for the second time. This happened to me recently. My
Dutch buyer was charged again but I had included the paper work and submitted
the IOSS number to the courier.

You will probably have to pay some handling fee regardless. Every shipper, carrier,
whatever seem to charge extra fees for "handling" it for you. Duty is some percent
of total value you paid. How much it is in UK I don't know.

If the VAT is paid at the time of order through Bricklink (ie order below £135)
and the correct paperwork is attached for it to go through customs then there
won't be a handling fee as there's no additional work required by the
courier. If the order's over £135 and therefore VAT isn't collected in
advance, you'll have to pay a handling fee along with the VAT.
There's no duty on Lego, as far as I understand, only VAT. (At least coming
into the UK, I don't know enough about duty regimes to know if that can vary
between countries. However I assume so.)

| Just to clarify: no duties (= import taxes) are due for amounts below €150, only
VAT.
