| Hello group:
Are you allowed to use the Bricklink part/figure codes on say a competing brick
selling website, or on a famous online auction site headquartered on the USA
West coast? Can you use them if you give credit to Bricklink? It's something
akin to coin collecting (a hobby of mine) where use of published catalog numbers
(Krause World Coins) is allowed in sales offers by businesses. Stamps are also
in this category. Are the BL number codes in the public sector?

Some of the BL part numbers are taken directly from the LEGO elements. In many
cases those elements have a number molded into an obscure location. The BL catalog
was originally loaded from the LDraw inventory. but those entries probably only
account for 10% of the parts currently in the catalog. The minifig numbers are
entirely something created by the BL catalog admins and/or member submissions.

Thank you Cosmicray...I would like an opinion on the MF designations...they appear
to be very useful across many selling platforms.

Product codes or similar stuff can't be copyrighted unless it's protected
by a trademark. Before Lego ownership that's one thing that Bricklink should
have especially cared so I don't think short minifigure names/codes would
contain a trademark...
If you will be using the pictures from here those are copyrighted works of respective
owners of course...

Indeed I think minifig codes and other codes like pb* are Intellectual Property
of BL, they formally requested other Lego marketplace to not use them, the use
some people do is to put them in titles and descriptions, but that is individually
by sellers in marketplaces not by the sites themselves.
