I work in a thrift shop and someone dropped of some Lego sets. They are sets
no. 50, 78, 200 and 918. All have boxes, instructions and original bill of sale
from Sears in Canada. By the way they are all still in the blister packs. What
are they worth and I can't sell them on this site because I have no purchase
record. Is there another site that would take them?

Jesus, those sets are worth hundreds each. You know, all you have to do to sell
them is just purchase one little thing off any store that gives feedback, and
you'll be able to sell those sets.

I'm pretty sure my parents owned those sets, those are really old. If you
want to sell them quickly, you can always sell them on viable alternatives like
eBay, but I'd recommend trying out Bricklink as there are, obviously, more
Lego enthusiasts here than there.

Could you post a picture of them ? I'd love to see what they look like.

You can upgrade your account to seller and complete the new seller verification
process and sell them on Bricklink.

You'll get the best price for rare items at ebay. They really need an auction
format rather than a fixed price. To get the best price here, you have to price
high then slowly reduce until someone buys.

That's actually not such a bad idea ...

A compromise could be to offer sellers a functionality like the quoting system
in which buyers would be able to make an offer on an item in a store.
In my mind it would be a functionality that sellers could activate / turn off
for each separate item (like the option to make something a stockroom item).

I'll pitch the idea in the Marketplace Panel, see if it's feasible or
not.

It might work for sets, but probably less so for parts. I doubt many sellers
want to go through lists of lots of parts where individual offers on each part
are made. Maybe the whole order could have an offer, but then prices would probably
just go up to account for 10% off offers.

And so long as you can turn it off, or set a minimum percentage price below which
offers are rejected. EBay has it and some of the offers people send are ridiculous.
Fortunately you can auto reject the time waster ones.

Unless extremely rare (and thus expensive) parts I can imagine, but in general
I think you're right.

I agree on being able to set certain limits.

I think if a seller particularly wanted to offer that you could accommodate it
with a combination of a suitable description, reserving an item and invoice request.
