Time to try and sleep sitting, like they did in the middle ages… and get a shorter
bed… and the sheets to go with it… er… even more expensive than announced

At least it comes apart easily in the middle, for those who want to modified
it four days after they build it to recreate it's sinking.

That was my first thought when I saw it: Can it break in the middle to re-enact
the sinking?

It's a shame it's $70 more than the Coliseum which weighed in at 9036
pieces. If it came with ~2400 minifigs I'd be all over it.

Looking through some of the product photos https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/lego-titanic-10294?CMP=AFC-AffiliateUS-LNtsWdwRzsQ-2513819-115554-1
it looks like it's loaded with (dark red) 2x6 tiles and tons of smaller 1x1-1x4
of varying colors. I'm sort of surprised that not many 1x16 technics bricks
are to be seen.

BrothersBrick's review says 102 of the dark red 2x6 tiles.
Also a few TAN of these:

Part No: 61409 Name: Slope 18 2 x 1 x 2/3 with Grille
*
61409 Slope 18 2 x 1 x 2/3 with Grille

It was sad, oh it was sad!
It was sad when that great ship went down (to the bottom of the)
Husbands and wives, little children lost their lives
It was sad when that great ship went down.

I remember this song very well from my own childhood, but as naughty school boys,
we also added this alternate chorus,

"Uncles and Aunts, little children lost their pants"

At least that is how we sang it in Canada

Who is going to inventory that beast?

All of the reviews from sites that get them for free were released yesterday
too. It seems a shame that there is no longer any time between the announcement
and the reviews.

And with that many pcs, there will likely to be at least one revision.

I wonder if BL can withstand a part-out command for that set.

It depends on the number of lots, not on the total number of parts. I doubt this
very repetitive build will reach 1,000 like the infamous Ninjago Gardens did.

Yikes, over 9000 pieces Not sure how many lots but I hope Bricklink is making
good progress on fixing the issues with parting out large sets...

I bet that flag is gonna cost a fortune on Bricklink

The way the ship is built up in sections reminds me of the Pirates of Barracuda
Bay set - maybe the parts are interchangable and you can make a crossover?

As an enthusiast of the Titanic, part of me feels like I may want to get that
set some day. Another part of me is worried about what might happen if someone
tries to move the ship from where I have it displayed and drops it.

You see, I don't live alone. I have relatives living with me. Should one
of them decide to take it upon themselves to clean my personal room without my
input someday. If while cleaning they try moving the ship and it flies apart
after being dropped, at over 9000 pieces, it will be a nightmare to find all
the pieces to put it back together.

I've told several people getting into LEGO is the safest collection hobby
someone with kids can get into because if a model falls, it can be repaired.

It may not be the funniest, but at least it's possible, unlike several other
hobbies with variously fragile subjects like antique porcelain!
