| I am interested in hearing from Sellers, what is your favorite part of being
in the Lego business? Is it finding a great bulk buy? Sorting? Cataloging, pulling
orders or shipping the goods out the door?
My favorite part of owning a store is dumping onto the table the latest bucket
of bulk Lego and sorting through and gathering similar items. I would happily
just do that and someone else could inventory it and sell it. Sorting is definitely
my favorite and I am just happy as can be when I come across a part I have never
seen before and look on BL what it is and how it is used.

| Have to say that sorting bulk lots is a favourite of mine too.

I love trying to picture what buyers are building with the parts they buy from
me, also, it is nice knowing I was able to supply some of the parts they need
to bring their creation to life. Plus, when I'm knolling out sets, I get
to spend time with my lovely bride!

Pulling orders. Although I do not really get to do it any more..
For one - I am one of those 'maybe let's not throw this random useless
trinket out, someone sometime some-place might have a use for it' type of
individual. I would make a damn hood hoarder. And perhaps I will.. once the lights
start fading away
I have also always been fascinated by the stock market and LEGO parts market
is in many ways similar. It is very pleasing to see how some investments and
pricing strategies pay-out in the long-run.
The two points above enable me to be the place where builders and other buyer
types come to get the pieces they want/need. I like to imagine what type of build
the parts are going to be used for, and also - it is very fun to see or to
try and figure out which exact piece or a combination of parts brought the customer
in. Supplying parts for a build or a collection makes you feel as you are a part
of it. Be it a MOC, a set being reconstructed, a huge project, or whatever else.
Every now and then someone shows up with a burning order where the pieces are
needed yesterday because the project needs saving and my store is the
only one in the entire world having the pieces in need. When the buyer is at
the other side of the planet and shipping cost is not even a question. It feels
very good to be able to help in situations like that. It makes it feel that what
I do - matters.
Also worth mentioning - in many businesses.... you will only ever hear from your
customer if there is an issue. With LEGO it is.. a bit different. Talking with
fellow LEGO enthusiasts is something that I enjoy a lot as well.

Hi!
I'd say it's placing the parts into bags then into the shipping package.
There is something so satisfying about closing the bags and putting the labels,
for me at least.
Well, then, of course, the best part of it all is receiving the money then spending
it on our hobbies. Isn't this why we do this? To fund our hobbies? 😁
Also just parted out a few sets if anyone is interested. 🙂

A great question!
I honestly haven't found enjoyment in any aspect of selling, in sometime.
Nevertheless, I know that I once did and in trying to remember what my 'favorite
part" once was, I'd go with finding the deals and bulk buying.
About your enjoyment of sorting, discovering and organizing: I've surmise
from reading the forum over the years, that many here feel as you do, in that.
Although I can understand the satisfaction others feel in performing those tasks,
I've always found them tedious myself. But then again, I've never dealt
in unknowns, only ever dealt in new. Never had that sense of discovery when digging
through used bulk lots, which I understand has got to add an element of excitement.

I'm one of those 24/7 music nerds. I rarely do anything without music on,
and running a Lego store gives me endless time to listen. I'd say that's
my favorite part of selling -- browsing eBay with the blues, singing along
to classic rock and '80s pop as I sort a bulk lot, letting classical and
jazz soothe me as I count and catalogue, pulling orders to power metal and EDM,
driving to the post office to drop off orders with the wind in my hair and boomers
giving me judge-y stares because I'm blasting Kendrick Lamar and Lizzo. With
most other jobs, I couldn't play my music constantly, especially not at the
volume I prefer.
Music aside, there's no substitute for the constant dopamine hits while going
through a new bulk lot. It's like an endless loot box.

| I buy only used and I study pics pretty well before making a purchase. So for
me it has to be when I’m pleasantly surprised by a hidden gem. I recently bought
a bulk purchase of about 20 pounds because I could see a lord of the rings fig
for my personal collection. The rest was mostly junk except there was a complete
grand emporium buried inside that you couldn’t see from any pics.

Loved all the responses here.
I like hunting for good ebay lots.
I used to like digging through bulk, but as life progresses, so do energy consuming
obligations so at the end of most days, I just don't have much energy to
sort through a pile.
This is becoming a problem because I have an inordinate amount of time to troll
ebay during the work day, but I can't exactly bring a heaping tote of bulk
to sort at work when things get slow.
So I end up with a mountain of unopened bulk and bulk minifig packages that I'm
hyped on when buying, but then don't feel like opening when they come in.
-Additional Highlights:
-I like looking at the total cost of a used bulk purchase and then uploading
everything from that lot into my stockroom, then looking at the total value just
to see that % gain before setting it all live.
-I also like that I have been able to acquire every lotr/hobbit figure + duplicates
in most for a personal collection at net zero cost by scooping and flipping other
theme figures.

Good question!
I enjoy hunting down sets at great discounts and parting them into my store.
But sometimes I find something that is just too good and I want to keep it for
myself.
I enjoy all sorts of hobbies that require learning, and dealing with multiple
small details. Lego sorting does a good job of scratching that itch.
I like getting paid and making a profit!

Having done this for a while; our crew enjoys seeing Instagram posts of newer
sellers who took a picture of the sets they bought in walmart and screenshots
of the sets part out value and declaring that they made a x5 profit before they
even cracked open the boxes.
As the owner; I'm less cynical; i enjoy telling the crew to get off Instagram
and get to work!

| As a youngster, did I want to grow up to be a fireman, rock star, professional
athlete, president, or dictator? Not a chance! I was obsessed with collectables!
After years of fending off office life/traditional work/grad school while looking
everywhere for a dream job, my work journey led me to a dream-like situation:
I found some Lego parts in a dumpster and began a career selling Lego.

This is the best part for me as well. New set released? I'll take 10! Rare
sealed set shows up on eBay? Sure! Not having to defend to my better side. And
sometimes out of the 10, I'll take 1 for myself.
