Hi all

I'm looking for a developer to do some work for us. Initially it's a
small piece of work, but may follow onto larger projects.

Our immediate need is to built a tool to move data to and from BrickLink and
other systems (e.g. RoyalMail api) using the BrickLink and other APIs.

We're not sure exactly where the work will lead, but interface / app
development may become a requirement.

If you think that you can help, drop me a message.

I'm working as a senior developer and I am running a bricklink store as a
hobby project

Did you plan the details of what you need? Consider possible pitfalls? What do
you plan to pay for it? How should the service be hosted and by who? What about
maintenance?

Best regards,
Anders Vik

Hi Anders

I'm a data warehouse developer with a few projects under my belt, so I've
got a fairly solid idea of what's involved. Though my feedback is small,
that's because this is my personal account rather than the BL store (I'm
working for one of the bigger UK stores), so we're comfortable with the fact
that it's got pros, cons, and costs associated with it.

Most of your questions are open to discussion, but my initial thoughts are:

* We aim to spend some money on it, but hundreds rather than thousands (at least
initially).
* The scope is highly variable, being broken into phases. Progression to the
next phase will be dependent upon the success vs. cost of earlier phases. For
example, the initial phase will be all about moving limited data between systems
without copy / past or manual entry. The next phase may be to manage and enhance
stock and order data centrally (though this would probably be multi-phase itself).
Being a database developer a lot of the data management and development is something
I can do myself, and up until the later phases is likely to be where most of
the effort is.
* Hosted vs. local is up for discussion, but I'd expect an online web hosting
solution to win (we already have a hosting provider with LAMP).

I hope that gives a bit more flavour to what we're aiming for.

Stuart
