Mine came from my Minecraft user name (NubCraftV2) believe it or not. I always
joked That I was a Noob On Minecraft cause I had a slow pc (totally wasn't
cause I was bad or anything )
Then over time, I started just saying Nub instead of noob and when I Created
My Bricklink Username I thought how can I make that into a store name to I Changed
It To Nub's Select Cause It Sounded Kinda Cool.

Fun! I like to try and guess the root of user/store names. I would've never
have gotten yours without help, though. Thanks.

Just spontaneous thoughts when creating your account, or were there personal
significance to any of the three bits of proffered self-identification?

No matter how trivial you might think it, others often find such things vicariously
enjoyable. Even if your post seems inconsequential to you, it's often not
to others and can be a fun distraction for both author and readers alike.

Some of the best reads here over the years for me, have been the more personable
anecdotes. I’d like to read yours. That is if you're bold enough to share?

Store: Missing Brick
My Username (as I've written in the past): Before Bricklink was Bricklink,
it was called "BrickBay". Dan (the founder and owner) got a cease letter from
eBay, they argued that the ***Bay infringed on their name. Dan, myself, and a
few others snapped us a few website names to use. Among the ones I bought was
Brickbuy. After deliberation, Dan decided on Bricklink, so I simply kept Brickbuy.
My original user name was "Owings" named after the town I used to live in. Since
I just moved, I dropped my username, and took Brickbuy as my username. I maintained
Brickbuy.com, just as a link to bricklink for about a decade or so, a few years
ago I sold the domain to a European real estate company (probably my best "sale"
related to bricklink...), but kept my username.

My Store name: In ~2000, I was trying to complete some sets from my childhood
collection and always just seem to mss a brick. Hence, "missing brick" refers
to the need to complete a set. When I needed to choose a store name, I went with
that. I am a builder, seller, and collector of LEGO. I have pretty much a complete
collection of all castle sets, all train sets, all collectible minifigs, and
all SW and castle figs. I also collect postage stamps (since I was young), mainly
from my native Netherlands. If anyone need stamps from the Netherlands, I'm
pretty sure I have what you are looking for....

ID card: pretty much stems from my main interest initially for all LEGO trains,
so the first LEGO train figure seemed like a good choice.

What profession?

I rarely hear about Fabuland in discussions, are there many fans of it? And what
do you "love" about it?

Enjoyable read. Thanks, Paul!

My entire time here on BL, I've viewed you as one of the site’s anchors,
still do. You, Carol and a few others are among those I’ve tried to emulate as
a fledgling BL store some 15 years ago.

But it’s the activities beyond BL involving Lego and otherwise, that are spectacular.
I won’t blab about them here, don’t know if you’d appreciate that or not. Nonetheless,
this offers some idea to others of what I’m referring to: https://youtu.be/TqQJSneam6U

Me, for one. Nothing against them, but the term "love" does not leap to mind.
A flaw in me no doubt, but I never found pigs endearing.

Rosie is very attractive, and indeed an excellent greeter!

Don't get this. What am I looking at spacecaptain, that you're

Love cats. Love portmanteaus. It occurred to me spontaneously while trying to
think of a name on the spot, and I loved it, especially the three different primary
pronunciations -- BRICK-it-y, bri-KITT-y, and BRICK KITTY. (I love all three
but generally lean towards the first, like the word "rickety".) Checked it out
and no one had taken it. My partner designed the logo in Photoshop, but awhile
ago a generous and talented user on BL built the cat with real bricks, took a
picture for me, and gave me free use of it, so that logo will be going up in
the next few weeks.

Also, "kitty" is my principle pet name with my partner, going both ways. So there's
some special significance there. It's one of the most positive words in our
lives.

It's one of the most positive words in our
lives.

Fantastic read. Thanks!

I was tinkering with my LEGO over a decade ago while Seinfeld was in the background
and Larry David who played George Steinbrenner was singing the Pat Benatar song:
'Heartbreaker' and i guess something clicked for me (pun intended).

One of us had the foresight to trademark the name.
I would highly recommend that people who feel a personal connection to their
business name go ahead and trademark it because there were a couple users here
and elsewhere who attempted to copy or make a similar user/shop names which had
to be changed as they violated our trademark.

Our store name is pretty easy to figure out where it came from...

When we first decided to open a store here on BL we thought alot about what name
to use. We wanted a name to reflect that we were a two guys in business because
we also have a cabinet making business together where our name in an obscure
way signifies that we are a 2 guy business - our woodworking business is called
R&R WoodWorks where the 2 R's stand for Ringgold and Russell, our last names
shop so we kind of decided on TheBrickGuys and I say 'kind of' because
we figured that if we came up with a better name latter then we would just change
it but we never really gave it much thought afterwards. I guess thinking about
it now we could have chosen R&R Brick Works for our BrinkLink name, kind of has
a nice ring to it.

Our store picture is my dog Skragle. When I first got him from the dog pound
I wanted to give him a Lego related name. I gave it a lot of thought and came
up with Skragle. His name comes from something Lego related but it would be interesting
to see if anyone can figure out in what way his name is related to Lego. I will
give a hint, it is in the first Lego movie. Part of the reason I gave him the
name Skragle is because he is a very scraggly haired dog. I can brush him and
2 minutes later he looks like he has never even seen a brush so that plays a
part in his name but there is still a Lego related reason.

It's funny how Lego can influence the way you look at things. When I look
at the colors of cars I often think of them in regards to what Lego color they
look like.

Take care.

Jim.

PS. We've changed Were to We're in our store slogan as you suggested
in a previous post - Thanks for that.

His name comes from the glue kragle on the 1st. Lego movie, I just added an S
to it.

My college nickname was "Buzz" due to my affinity for having very short hair
and giving myself haircuts with my hair trimmers. It shortly morphed into "Buzzard"
I guess because I like birds. Brick Buzzard for my store name obviously uses
my nickname that I still use decades later plus it has nice alliteration. My
user name is short for my store name. Lastly, my ID card was chosen to reflect
my favorite theme ... CASTLE!

Kinda of like the broken path that my username took. Btw, it's not often
you get to use the very cool term "alliteration" so well.

An awesome theme, for sure.

I intentionally chose a store name that doesn't have the word "brick" in
it in order to distinguish myself. I went through a few different store names
before I settled on "Wild Chicken", but it seems like a good fit to me because
it matches my BrickLink username. As to where that came from, I don't really
know, it just kind of popped into my head one day.

My profile picture is simply

Part No: 95342pb01 Name: Chicken, Narrow Base with Black Eyes and Red Comb and Wattle Pattern
*
95342pb01 Chicken, Narrow Base with Black Eyes and Red Comb and Wattle Pattern
Parts: Animal, Land {White}

I used to have some in stock, but someone bought them all about a month ago

Just spontaneous thoughts when creating your account, or were there personal
significance to any of the three bits of proffered self-identification?

No matter how trivial you might think it, others often find such things vicariously
enjoyable. Even if your post seems inconsequential to you, it's often not
to others and can be a fun distraction for both author and readers alike.

Some of the best reads here over the years for me, have been the more personable

Right back at ya!
How long have you been Popsicle and ConstrucToys?

popsicle: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1231656

ConstrucToys is an amalgam of Construction Toys, that came to me while trying
to create a store name elsewhere some years ago. I still have no idea if it's
original or not, knowing how my mind works, or doesn't

As to how long? Well popsicle I've used here on BL for 9+ years, unsure.
ConstrucToys, not as long. Beyond that, I have trouble with timeline awareness
of events in my life going back to my younger days. Let's just say I've
got some wiring issues from damage I took as a young man overseas.

Here I was, hoping you'd reveal a cute backstory of how your nom de plume
was once closer to "thestud" or "heartbricker42" or "toyboy10000"

Cheers to a decade of popsicle on this forum!

For me it all started when I was reading about someone that used Bricklink to
sell LEGO and I wanted to start looking into it. The first thing I did was to
create my account, so I used a username that I use for most everything. The store
name was more of a placeholder originally and I fully intended to change it after
I did more research and actually opened my store. The longer I kept it the more
I liked it and now it is now my brand.

I'm actually surprised that the store name was available. I did try to make
it my username as well, but as it turns out it was someone's former username,
so it is not available.

I like it! Though it might feel somewhat difficult to live up to, for me.

What's the significance of your username, something to do with Volleyball?
Forgive my ignorance if it's obvious.

Converse All Stars actually. I was trying to come up with a name for my Xbox
live account when I was in middle school. It was (and still is) my shoe of choice,
and seemed like a good username to compete with. The numbers are mostly random.
I wanted enough of them so that the odds for the username being taken on other
platforms was low.

Store: Nelson's Bricks
My grandparents had a woodworking hobby business when I was a teenager. I would
help them from time to time and went to some craft fairs with them. They had
this floor mat outside of their garage where they worked that said "Nelson's
workshop". So of course the first thing I thought of was Nelson's bricks.
It's our last name. Also my grandparents passed away in 2007 so this is kind
of a way to keep our heritage and their entrepreneurial spirit going.

Beautiful. A name with real meaning for you and your family, I like it very much.

Just spontaneous thoughts when creating your account, or were there personal
significance to any of the three bits of proffered self-identification?

No matter how trivial you might think it, others often find such things vicariously
enjoyable. Even if your post seems inconsequential to you, it's often not
to others and can be a fun distraction for both author and readers alike.

tpr - my step sons initials.
Used them when i wrote for a local newspaper as "The Press Reporter" (tpr)
then on here as tpr with my shop "The Parts Resort" (tpr)

The picture is of a playing card my grandson had - probably Megablocks (!!)

My name came from my love of Mera so kind of simple, the 00's either side
are meant to be kind of like bubbles lol, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Store name because of my fascination with the great Lost city and if it is ever
found there's got to be some amazing hidden treasures with it so again kind
of simple and all fits together.

The graphic novel character from Aquaman DC comics? Don't blame you, she's
a fantastically drawn character

When I got my own place the first time, my phone number was (xxx) 292-3290.
My roommate wanted a mnemonic to remember it and I worked out axadayzero. That
was my name on eBay and various message boards and such until it was eventually
shortened to axaday. I have no affiliation with the AXA Day of Service, though
I applaud their efforts.

I chose my ID Card when I discovered a new kind of minifig that I liked a couple
years ago. His name is Max, similar to Axaday, and he looks like I did in high
school until I started cutting my hair short.

This is new info! Thanks. Did you choose it strictly for it's resemblance

By the way - NIИ are on tour again! Already got my tickets for London in June

Sweet!

Yeah, saw they're scheduled for Vegas too. Road trip?

Go for it!

I was on Compuserve before then. Then AOL with its internet training wheels.
The thing that I find most irksome now is the commercials. Youtube is particularly
annoying. I hate them before a movie on DVD and some will not let you fast-forward.
But it is so nice not to watch commercials for the TV on DVD. As for normal
on air TV Reagan screwed us up by doing away with the commercial time limits
per half or full hour of TV. Commercial time limits enforced by the government
are a thing of the past.

Similar thing for me: When I left the backwater where I grew up for uni, some
time in a previous century, I found out about this thing called internet, and
stumbled over T.S.Eliot in English literature courses. Putting both together
spawned the persona of stearns, eliot_stearns, or even Eliot T. Stearns, if naming
rules permitted. I still think it's a rather clever name, if I may say so.

(The song is brilliant, I do prefer the Johnny Cash version though. )

So Terra is my last name, so kind of boring and obvious.

But the logo is more interesting. I started the store seriously last fall, just
in time for Christmas Sales. I already had a lot of stock including a pile of
collectable minifigs that I was selling on commission for an adult collector
who is a friend.

Despite all the discussion against being able to sell Lego in person, I decided
to try it at a couple of craft sales near my home. So packed up a stack of drawers
with complete sets in bags, a bunch of vintage sets that were pre-built (because
they show better), a couple creator boxes, and a box of minifigs. Set up a good
display of the sets, both built and bagged. Kind of made a little town on few
levels including a race track. But I couldn't figure out how to display minifigs
in a way that people weren't digging through them as Covid was still making
the rounds. I had brought my 10 yr old daughter to keep me company (turns out
she's a great at sales!) and she was digging through a creator box behind
the table. I made many sales that day including the race track and most of the
minifigs all due to her creation.

She built multiple sets of bleachers that the minifigs could stand on and everyone
was visible! She set them up in little action situations (arguments, Bath guy
loosing a towel, lovers kissing underneath). People came by and spend 30 minutes
or more just looking at all the minifigs and then of course buying them. Then
she also made a big sign to create a type of backboard. Using some plates and
a bunch of yellow tiles of various types and shades. She came up with Terra
Brick logo in bricks! Later I took a picture and adjusted the background to
make it more clear, got it printed on t-shirts, cards, and my Bricklink Logo.

So that's my Logo Story.

kidsncritters is from the fact that my wife and I adopted 8 children - all now
young adults and teens! The critters started with my now married daughter who
loves animals. We still have a few snakes, a couple cats, a three year old german
shepherd dog. Also chickens and ducks on our property that are under watch by
a crazy goose who loves to chase everyone!

Sunset bay bricks because we live near the shore and we have awesome sunsets!

Hi popsicle and the ones reading this! 🙂
Well, when i came to this forum, i thought what could it be my profile name and
so on... Then it came like this: i like fantasy theme like "Fairytale movies"
, Shrek, magic, then the movie Wizard of Oz... There were witches...and i guess
in a few other movies like Hocus Pocus from year 1993 with Bette Midler, Sarah
Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy is also one of my very favorite films..So i chose
Witch. Then the brown hair.. My hair used to be like red when i was younger.
Later it looked more like brown, like lighter brown maybe. So i chose for the
Witch minifigure different hair and head. My hair is not as long as with the
minifigure, but it is like "long hair" if i go to hairdresser for cutting
it. at least not shortest. 🙂

Oh, ok thank you for that info 🙂 i think i have heard or seen that word auburn
in tv sometimes.. There is like so many words in English, that i either do not
know or can not remember.. So that is why it is important to try to repeat some
words many times to try to remember them 🙂 i wish a lovely weekend to you, to
your wife and your daughter 🙂

That in between and seemingly shifting hair color from red to brown, is sometimes
referred to as auburn here. My daughter has auburn hair. As her mother is Swedish
and very blonde, we believe that portion of her genes came from my mother, her
grandmother, who had very beautiful auburn hair.

Oh..ok.. Thanks so much 🙂 Well, where i live right now, it is not Helsinki but
another town near Helsinki and the temperature seems to be now about minus 2
Celsius. So it is not coldest winter time now. 🙂 And just need to put enough
of clothes when going out. What temperature do you have there right now where
you live?

Have yourself a nice weekend too. It's gotta be cold in Helsinki this time

you have little warmer there. Enjoy your beautiful sunshiny day 😉

Oh..ok.. Thanks so much 🙂 Well, where i live right now, it is not Helsinki but
another town near Helsinki and the temperature seems to be now about minus 2
Celsius. So it is not coldest winter time now. 🙂 And just need to put enough
of clothes when going out. What temperature do you have there right now where
you live?

Today's a beautiful, sunshiny winter day on the Puget Sound

Just spontaneous thoughts when creating your account, or were there personal
significance to any of the three bits of proffered self-identification?

In my case, there is plenty of personal significance behind both my username
and my ID card.

Username: When I was in high school a friend found a website that listed names
with their meanings, and then those meanings were used to generate names in Quenya.
My name, Gwendolyn, was translated as "white ring" from Welsh, and thus
the Quenya version was proposed as "Lossecorme". It quickly became my
default username everywhere online, and still is twenty years later.

ID Card: Some years ago, I started painting LEGO shields to reflect the heraldry
of people I know who participate in medieval armoured combat through the Society
for Creative Anachronism. I have an entire army of over 150 minifigures now,
all representing real people. My ID Card is a photo of my minifig with my shield.
I've actually switched to fighting with a teardrop shaped shield in real
life, so expect my ID Card to change once I've painted a new shield for my
minifig.

Hi! Could you show some day in future any pictures about LEGO shields you have
painted, or about part of your army over 150 minifigures? Would be very interesting
to see.
