| Hi All
Just wondering if other Stores are suffering a large drop in orders in recent
weeks? ( We are in UK ).
In January February and March we were averaging 25 orders per week this has now
dropped drastically to 7 orders per week or 1 per day!.
This seems to be since COVID lock down was lifted but can’t be sure?
This is only our 9th month since opening so don’t know if certain months or seasons
are less busy than others? Or is this the Norm without COVID?
Our store has more lots and inventory than any previous months yet this is the
slowest custom has been since we opened in August 2020.
Any other stores seeing similar patterns to this and if so why is it like this
and can we expect things to start picking up again at some point.
Any answers would be much appreciated
Many thanks

| You're far from alone. We're not down quite that much, about 50%.

So probably more doom and gloom to come then? If it had dropped 30 or 40% It
would not be as bad but over 50% is a bit of a shocker as this is still our first
year... roll on July then!thanks

Well, what everybody should know:
0. Statistics with too few numbers aren’t statistics.
And from what I gleaned from the forum:
1. LEGO business varies a lot.
2. Some sellers do better than others…
3. …and the next month it’s upside down.
4. BL sellers are like farmers: never enough sun/rain, always too much rain/sun,
IOW, never happy

Not sure whether to count my blessings, being closed, or to risk taking advantage
of the summer slump sales and end up crushed under a hill of 60% off stud blasters
and Chima stickers.

Summer has arrived, meaning people with disposable income will probably want
to spend money on outdoor activities, shows, movie theaters, concerts, etc.
Especially now that a good many people are vaccinated and it is safe to do so.
Add that it was not safe last summer because of COVID19 means a lot of people
are extra antsy to get out of the house this Summer.
Selling Lego is more or less seasonal. Winter and fall months are better for
sales while the end of spring and Summer are the worst. Happens every year.
You are in the UK so I imagine Brexit is not helping either, in regards to sales
with countries in Europe.
Just need to adapt, like running sales, and discounts on your items will help
counteract the dip. But there is only so much that can be done.

Captain Q

Well, the effects on sales to EU should have already started in January, when
the UK left the Single Market¹ and the new customs rules started to apply and
when it was a big interrogation point for everyone.
I was even going to say that, au contraire, sales should have gone up this month,
now that BL has correctly implemented the Brexit changes and there’s no question
anymore… but then I remembered the changes included finally getting UK out of
the “in EU” filter… so you may actually be right: EU buyers who filtered for
stores “in EU” stopped seeing UK stores this month.
(¹ Brexit as in “UK is not a member of EU anymore” was Jan 31st 2020. UK stayed
in the Single Market for 11 months more, the time to negociate the terms.)

Thank you Captain Q, they are the sensible answers I was hoping to hear with
regards to seasons and times of year as our store was not yet open last summer
so unaware of the peaks and troughs.
Kind Regards

Just as others, restrictions are lifting and people are getting out and about,
plan on weak sales through the summer months and it will pickup again September
as a rule of thumb.

We have been doing this a long time now, last year was an anomaly with it busy
year round with the pandemic. This year will be probably a bit of the opposite
since, again, restrictions are being lifted and folks are fleeing their homes
to be out. Good time to bump your inventory.
