Hi folks, let’s say I want to make a business selling LEGO on BrickLink. What
are my options ? What works best ? Should I buy sets from LEGO and sell the parts
individually ? Should I buy sets and resell them directly ? Should I buy parts
from other BL sellers and resell them at higher prices ? Other options ?

Thanks for your help.

The secret is to find the niche that works for you.

Seems like an interesting view. Do you have example of such niches ? Have you
found yours ?

A lot of people on here part out sets to sell the individual pieces.

When I was living in a big city I use to haggle with people on Craigslist that
were selling their used Lego. Then turn around and sell that here. Not sure
if you have Craigslist in France, but perhaps something similar?

IMO it's unwise to solely rely on Bricklink if you're talking professional
business that should pay the bills in your life. Bricklink just has too many
issues for that. Using it as one of several outlets of your Lego sales, sure.

If I would start today with selling Lego parts, I would start by buying used
lots on marketplace sites. It takes a lot of effort to list those parts, but
you will have a more unique range of products that way. If you would buy todays
sets and part them out, you will have the same parts as everyone else and you
will not have any edge over the competition unless you're able to throw lots
of money at it to have more than they do.

I won't comment on my own Used set completion activity since it's nowhere
near profitable, but I've seen the following activities being carried by
what I assume are profitable businesses:
1. Buy unsorted LEGO bins from personal ads websites and inventory them to sell
"Used" condition parts.
2. Buy LEGO sets at a discount from supermarket and part them to sell "New" condition
parts.
3. Buy "Pick-a-Brick" items at a LEGO store and rely on the weight price to acquire
specific parts in demand for cheap.
4. Buy sets from LEGO and sit on them until they are retired, then sell them
at a markup to collectors.

All of these activities require some experience to be profitable. Knowing what
to buy is the crux of the issue in all cases. Unless you have this experience
yourself when you start your store, it's unlikely you will make much money
out of it the first couple years because margins selling LEGO are overall pretty
low.

Just do what you enjoy if it’s hobby selling. If your trying to make a living
from it, maybe buy 1/4 million dollars worth of parts and undercut the competition?
🤷‍♂️
