| Hi all,
recently some of our parts/sets/minifigs are removed from my inventorie.
Before you would get a notification, but nowadays items are removed without further
notice.
I do understand that it is necessary to list the items correctly, but I do have
a problem with removing minifigs from the inventorie.
For example:
SW0105: Lando Calrissian, Cloud City Outfit (Smooth Hair)
We do have this minifig in stock, it is new, but the cape is missing
We do not have an option to list the minifig as NEW and INcomplete, but the minifig
IS completly new!!
Either change the way we can add this to our inventorie (like sets) or let us
list them as new! It would be incorrect if we would list them as USED, as clearly
they are NOT.
just my 2 cents,
be cool and have fun!

Hey Eric,
If I understand correctly, what Admin_Russell said is that even listing at as
USED would be wrong because it is incomplete. His suggestion is to list just
the parts.
I understand that for a seller, it is not very appealing to list just the parts.
As a buyer it is frustrating to comb through so many listings only to find them
incomplete.
So yes, maybe having an entry for New Incomplete and also Used Incomplete minifigs
would help with this issue.

I've also just had that very same Lando minifigure removed because of the
missing cape and yet there is surely some value to be added to the bricklink
marketplace by giving people access to rare minifigures like this. See here...

The point now is that you don't have the minifigure in stock. You have some
of the parts of the minifigure but you don't have a complete minifigure,
so you cannot sell it as the minifigure. You can add it to your store as a custom
figure, maybe called Capeless Lando. But you cannot use the minifigure listing
in the catalogue as you don't have that minfigiure.
You cannot list them as used either, as they are still not a minifigure.

| when new buyers are looking for this minifig, sometimes they are glad they can
get their hands on the minifig, even without cape.
All options will fail to find the minifig for buyers!
The minifig is complete, the cape is just an accessoire, mind me!!!

It isn't complete though. If it is missing part of the inventory then it
is not complete.
I think it is clear BL will not introduce an incomplete minifigure setting, to
keep incomplete ones away from the complete catalogue listing like what happens
with sets. So you have the options of buying the cape and selling as a complete
minifigure, selling it without a cape as a custom minifigure that is not attached
to the catalogue listing or breaking it down into parts and selling them either
individually or as a superlot. Or, of course, sell it elsewhere.

| Sellers do not need to list incomplete minifigs. They have options, for example,
of getting the part needed to complete the minifig, and then listing.
I am happy to see that Bricklink has finally clarified the minifig listing policy,
which should never have allowed incomplete minifigs, and that Bricklink is enforcing
the policy with sellers.
There is no good reason to have incomplete minifigs listed on Bricklink. A minifig
missing some parts of the official inventory is really only an group of parts.

I agree 100% - incomplete minifigs should not be sold under the minifig entry.
Also, in our experience, minifig parts sell pretty good as well. To give you
an indication (all these are used parts):
- We sold 3,331 legs assemblies with 324 in stock;
- We sold 3,561 torso assemblies with 225 in stock;
- We sold 4,300 heads with 239 in stock;
- We sold 4,510 hair/headgears with 459 in stock.
It's not like you are going to be stuck with minifig parts forever. Whenever
we have minifigs that are incomplete, we set them aside, and when we have a good
amount of amputees we upload all the parts.
Makes for some welcome variety in our store.
Niek.

| so…….. a new set without instructions should also be a custom listing?
why is it different for sets?

No, they can be listed as new incomplete. You can see the rules here:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102
New, incomplete is allowed for sets.
| why is it different for sets?
|
Because BL have decided it to be this way. It is kind of understandable given
that minifigures are typically 3-10 parts, whereas sets are typically 10s-1000s
of parts.

Minifigs and sets are two different categories. Makes sense that they have different
rules.

Partly because you can download the instructions depending on the age of the
set directly form the Lego website for no charge, and most if they are not available
there are available elsewhere for free.

Either change the way we can add this to our inventorie (like sets) or let us
list them as new! It would be incorrect if we would list them as USED, as clearly
they are NOT.

Incomplete minifigs are parts. It skews the price guide if they are incomplete.
