Hi all,

this is the other question about this set.
Should I considered only step 1: figure + body wear?
Or we need to consider also steps 2-3-4-5?

I think that we should add the wings because in most of the images this figure
is presented with them (because in the "story" it should be the armour which
saves Tony from the AIM). In the other hand we already have another example sh497
that was presented in the same way (with wings) but was uploaded only with the
body wear.

Let me know,

many thanks,
Mirko

p.s. obviously, choosing the winged one, will need to add also the variant with
stickers.

I'd also go with wings, like the various Dr Octopus minifigs attachments.

If we want to remain consistent with how we are currently defining things, this
minifigure would be considered complete at Step 6 because that is the last step
before handheld accessories are added. However, I think it is time that we remove
all energy effects as parts from minifigures. This would have an effect on all
the Iron Man figures, Ultron figures, etc. that currently use the round 1x1 bricks
as energy effects. I will have a talk about this with the other admins. Please
stand by.

Cheers,
Randy

Ok!
I'm in stand by.
I have excluded the Step 6 because I didn't considered as an Energy Effect
but you are right, it is.
Maybe you can consider all the oldest and already inventoried minifigures as
just they are and applied the new rules (if there will be some new) to the new
minifigures from now.
You will not need to delete any minifigures.

Excluding the energy effect (brick round and dish) I think that in this minifigure
we should apply the wings. But I will wait your response.

Thanks,
Mirko

Wouldn’t this create an inconsistency with how iron man in set 76107 was inventoried?
It is only the figure with the neck piece.

I wasn't in inventories back then, but yes, this minifigure needs an update.
I think all of the Iron Man minifigures will be looked into.

I have that minifigure and I could update the inventory but how about all the
people who are selling the sh497 without wings at the moment?

That incorrect minifigure would be marked for deletion and have an additional
note added to it stating something about it not being built correctly. The note
would also let sellers know what entries the incorrect one was replaced by.

At least in this scenario, they could move it to

Minifig No: sh496 Name: Iron Man - Mark 50 Armor, Small Helmet Visor
*
sh496 (Inv) Iron Man - Mark 50 Armor, Small Helmet Visor
Minifigures: Super Heroes: Avengers Infinity War

by removing the neck bracket.

Yep. That was the minifigure I referred before.
Maybe we should create a sh497b as a variant with wings but then we should create
also an sh497bs with stickers and this could be complicate everything.
Maybe we should keep the sh497 as it is now and create this new IronMan in object
according to Bricklink rules at the moment.

Yes, two new minifigures would need to be created with the wings with and without
stickers. The previous minifigure would be marked for deletion.

We don't keep mistakes in the BrickLink catalog if we know they are wrong,
need to be corrected, and get the go ahead to make the changes.

Nice, I completely agree with you. I didn't think about the "marked for deletion".

I hate these things, may I say this!?

I do not have these minifigs but a lot of sellers may have sold these parts and
are now having a minfig they can’t sell ‘the normal’ way.
Now they need to part out the remaining parts of this minifig, makes it harder
to sell.
These parts are also the parts that get lost when played with.
And, okay, I do understand a collector want’s it complete but maybe Bricklink
sometimes goes too far in these things.

The same with just a neckbracket like on the back of Yoda and the Green Goblet
for instance.
I guess the most of the owners do not use the neckbracket, it is just a part
that covers part of the decoration.

I think, specially with older catalog entries we need to keep the original minifig
in the catalog, sometimes it can be a real pain in the ... to get these minfigs
complete again.

We correct minifigures in the catalog that go back over 30 years sometimes. We
also correct set inventories and stickered parts that have been in the catalog
for ages all of the time. My job is not to worry about someone who may have a
set inventory "wrong", a stickered part "wrong", or a minifigure "wrong" because
the BrickLink system was "wrong" at the time. (I use "wrong" in quotes because
the catalog is a living thing that is constantly in flux and what may be considered
"right" at one time may have be considered "wrong" at a later time.) My job is
to correct as many errors as I can find and deal with them and make sure that
as few new errors as possible enter the catalog. If this minifigure was entered
into the catalog incorrectly because it does not follow the guidelines (which
it was), then it needs to be corrected (which it will be). Luckily, this doesn't
happen often, but when it does, it should not be ignored.

Cheers,
Randy
