| I think that everybody knows that in the last two years there was a lot of peaople
connecting with BL the first time.
I'm sure that most of them to nopt read the rules...
It is becaming quite common to receive orders from people with zero feedback
that after some days ask for order cancellation.
I think it would be great to have a function to avoid orders from people with
0feedback or at least having the possibility to approve or deny the order before
it became a registered order. It is quite frustrating to cancel orders after
some days and then restock everythink...

| How should a new user get feedback if they cannot place orders?
You can go to settings, then click management. There is a setting "Show only
Instant Checkout methods to new buyers". That probably does what you want.

| I understand your frustration but I think your idea is outlandish.
A buyer has the right to cancel an order no matter how big/small and no matter
how new they are.
If you're getting this frustrated set up IC, that will mitigate most of the
issue.
We all have to start somewhere, me and you both had 0 feedback once right? Be
the bigger person, cancel their order and move on. Simple. If you're getting
loads of cancellations then it's most likely your issue with shipping prices
or something, given your recent feedback and your retaliatory feedback I'm
inclined to believe that's true.
Sort yourself out, don't penalise others.

+1 new buyers are to be helped, encouraged and persuaded to stay, not scared
off by impatient sellers, there is no shortage of sellers here its new buyers
we need.

Yes, a shipping table or at least some indicative costs for postage or better
still Instant Checkout works well to stop orders that get cancelled due to unknown
postage costs.

| A good percentage of my orders are zero feedback buyers, I'll be honest I
can't remember having any issues with someone with no feedback. From time
to time they message me as unsure about something which is cool, it is our job
to help them through the system.
If someone wants to cancel, I'll always cancel no questions asked, people
make mistakes.
If you get an order from a new buyer you feel unsure of I'd suggest sending
a message to them and asking if there's anything you can help with, it can
be a bit confusing buying on Bricklink for the first time.

Likewise I get a lot of zero feedback buyers and im a fairly new seller/long
term user/rare occasion buyer and can't say they cause an issue, some ask
questions but its expected but very tiny percentage ever then ask to cancel,
normally only overseas for very large items that are costly to ship and those
have ended in an amicable way. I actually like having new buyers as I hope I
help set the tone of what they should expect.

| From the perspective of a new buyer:
Yes it is complicated to buy something here on Bricklink.
Usually you put something in the shopping cart, click buy and you're done.
Here you have to deal with the system in advance to understand whats are parts,
lots and so on.
Here you also have to read and observe the shop conditions of each seller, which
are not always easy to understand.
Many do not provide details about shipping costs or fees.
So please help us through the system, as Pippyblocks wrote and be patient with
us.
For my first order, I needed almost a day on August 31, 2020.
(5 shops / 32 lots / 65 parts)
Because I wanted to avoid mistakes and read a lot, and dealt with the wanted
list.
To make matters worse, I am from Austria and English is not my strong point!

Voted against. I will not solve anything, it will simply move the problem from
sellers who are using that setting to sellers who are not using it. Also, it
is a setting that would cause Bricklink to stop working for new members if everyone
would use it. I think a site should never have settings that would cause it to
stop working if everyone used it.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience but maybe it was just a spell of bad
luck, as usually my (0) buyers are great.

My largest order of all time ever was from a 0 feedback buyer.
They paid with instant checkout and left positive feedback.
Everyone starts somewhere.

| I encourage you to prevent users with 0 feedback from seeing your store. It
sounds like it will be a good move for you.
For every store that has new buyers blocked the more likely I will be to get
a sale. New buyers provide feedback at a much higher rate than experienced buyers.
I ship fast, and love to be their first package from BL. I also have a high
rate of new buyers place a second order within 24hrs of receiving their package.
I love new buyers!!

| This is not entirely a fair assessment, as you are able to offer instant checkout
relatively easily using USPS, especially since you don't ship internationally.
Of course, you don't have to deal with many NPBs (I don't either).
Other country's postal systems can be complex, which is a prohibiting factor
in utilizing IC.

You can do one of two things:
1. Send them to me; or
2.Set yourself up for Instant Checkout, then go here
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/management.page
Tick on that seller protection button there - it will prevent all those pesky
new buyers irritating you. In fact, they all have to irritate 5 other sellers
first. Seller number 6 apparently gets buyers, not irritation.
| or at least having the possibility to approve or deny the order before

|
Its called acknowledging an order - this is why you can cancel orders without
the buyer's permission. You just say I do not want this order and you cancel
it, easy.
| It is quite frustrating to cancel orders after

You want to blame the buyer for a thing you are doing. The buyer does not tell
you to pick the LEGO, or worse still, pack and ship it already, the buyer just
tells you he wants some LEGO goodies subject to your:
1. Accepting the order; and
2. Providing an affordable shipping option
and subject to the buyer paying or making some acceptable payment arrangement
for you. What are you doing picking and packing LEGO when you do not have an
order with no strings attached yet?
And there is another nifty solution - enable quotes, those work nice. I suppose
it will irritate you to complete those as well, but at least then you can ignore
them.
I would still help them if you don't want to, so voted no.
