My bad, I accidentally left the setting on 'Regular' before submitting
- this should still be an 'Alternate' part.
Mind you, it would help if this field - like all the others - did not have a
default value...

Nice to see that someone else has seen it too. I've only seen the b&w appendix
page where these new parts have been suggested, but based on the brick's
location I was pretty sure it should be light grey.
Some other notes: there are some parts (Axle and Pin Connectors, Technic Bricks
1 x 2 with Hole, Half Pins) marked as alternative with different quantities because
of the reinforcement change. But that's incorrect: all the parts in the original
inventory are needed to make the B-model.

Thank you for bringing this up.
You are correct. The alternate model always needs the following: (1) 2x light
gray 3700, 8x light gray 4273a, and 2x light gray 4274.
Because of this, the set would have always included them (even after the redesign)
and they should not be included in the list of parts that changed in the redesign.
I have manually adjusted the inventory to account for this.
