I have multiple colors of 44140. One of the colors seems to not match anything
in the system. There are two sets that say they have pearl dark grey but the
pictures have different colors on each set. Set 8811-1 shows the exact color
that I have but says that it should be pearl dark grey. Set 8593-1 shows the
same part as supposed to be pearl dark grey but shows a different coloration
from the one I have. Does anyone know if this is just a different color and should
be added to the system? Or do the pearl dark grey ones always look like more
of a greenish color(like in the picture for set 8811-1).

If the part is [old] Pearl Dark Gray, it should look like the color of the part
listed as LEGO color 148 Dark Grey Metallic in that image.

Cheers,
Randy

I have that exact part and this does not match it. It also does not match anything
in the system. Except for one of the pieces in the picture for set 8811-1. It
matches the upper leg color and it is the same part as in the picture. Maybe
this is a different color that needs to be added to the system? Or possibly a
variant of the pearl dark grey color?

Here is a comarison of the two pictures. Those two pieces are supposed to be
the same color.According to bricklinks inventory.

You can't trust set images to show the correct colors of parts, since many
of them are computer-rendered images and not representative of the actual parts.
Why don't you post an image of the part you have next to something that you
know for a fact is Pearl Dark Gray? It is known fact that some of the old Pearl
Dark Gray parts could be somewhat yellowish/greenish.

Cheers,
Randy

Not sure if I can be of any help, but here are two pictures of my sets 8593 and
8811.

I do notice on set 8811 that the part does look slightly greenish on my monitor,
but then again, set 8811 is made with the Dark-Bluish Grays whereas the 8593
set is an older set made with the older Dark-Gray. So I thought the greenish
tone was because the part is side-by-side a bluish gray (in 8811) rather than
a somewhat greenish-gray (8593). Also I took the pictures in different settings,
so that might have an effect, and I am not a photographer.

First picture is 8811. Second picture, 8593

I have that same part(upper leg armor of dinosaur looking thing). Looking at
it with the naked eye it is still that greenish color.

I have seen this with the Bionicle parts. The Bionicle Pearl Dark Gray is greener
than other non-Bionicle parts. The browns are different and some of the trans
parts are off a bit too.

Just sell/buy the part as PDG, it will be fine.
