For those of you who use Brickstock and have questions about how to update your
inventory, I have produced a short guide (with screenshots) to clarify the situation.

If you would like a copy of the pdf let us know and we will be happy to send
it on, if not you can use the link below to review it.

Is there any way to update "remarks" via Mass-update? I cant seem to get my remarks
to update with it.

NOt sure that works or not - will look at it later today and get back to you.
If it doesn't work and you are doing everything correctly then I can report
it to Patrick as a bug .

So you are importing your inventory into Brickstock and updating the remarks
field and then using mass update in the bottom box to get it to update the remarks
field?

There is no concatenate remarks for this option, so it might not be something
that will work that way.

You certainly can do it (I Believe) from mass upload (the top box)

I have taken a moment to try this and it does not work using Mass update - the
remarks field is not included in the file it sends to Bricklink. This could be
because there were problems over this field a while ago and changes have been
made which Brickstock doesn't know about. I will message Patrick and see
if he can help.

One more test run. If you use the mass upload command it works and takes the
remarks field across. Have now reported this to the current author as a bug and
will wait to hear back from him.

Yes Mass Upload works, Mass Update doesn't. So right know I am getting around
it by deleting the inventory and mass uploading, but would be much nicer to mass
update lol.

Newbie to the software here. I am stuck trying to figure out where and how I
turn on the "lot number". I keep getting parsing error. Where do I toggle that?

If you click on the above link and scroll down on the document it has a screenshot
of how to add the lot no to your inventory. Make sure you have updated the database
and provided the correct login details in the configure section of the application.

I feel silly not being able to use this software. I have BRICKSTOCK Demo. I
have configured the access to my store. I have updated the data base and clicked
on the NEW tab. I drop down the FILE tab and click on IMPORT BRINKLINK STORE
and I always get the following error.....Error: Could not parse the XML data
for the store inventory:
Line 2, column 3: error occurred while parsing element

Okay 2 things further to check - make sure buyer/collector mode is not ticked
(that is under the view command) and also ensure you are in online mode under
extras. Normally the xml parsing error occurs when the password to your store
is not correct and it therefore cannot read the data so check that carefully
including upper and lower case.

Hope that helps.

I've tried all that, I'm still getting this: https://i.imgur.com/JdpGk1B.png

I bet it's something really simple we're doing wrong but I kinda gave
up on trying by now. Maybe it's because I'm using the demo version?

Not due to using demo version the only issue with using that is you get that
annoying pop-up every so often.

This parsing error has been reported many times in the forum and the solution
has always been your Bricklink login and password are wrong.

If after checking that thoroughly you still are getting the same problem then
I would ensure I had the latest version and then email the author with a copy
of the error message.

Okay - I have now proven what causes this error - see below:

I made that happen by keying in the incorrect bricklink login/password. As soon
as I put the correct ones back in it worked perfectly.

So despite the comments about getting that right it appears something is wrong
with the login and password that you have in the tools-configure- network box
in Brickstock.

That should help - if it doesn't you will have to go to the author as according
to the source code that error only occurs when the login credentials are not
correct.

I made it work after all! Make sure your password is all lowercase letters, no
number and no uppercase laters. Not very secure, but it seem to work!

including upper and lower case.

Great glad to hear it but you are not correct about passwords. Our password contains
caps, lower case, numbers and special characters and it works fine. There are
no password rules other than those from Bricklink.

While we're on the topic on Brickstock, can someone explain the differences
in prices, like on the image below. It's not the only piece that has different
information, I did a fresh database download and all that:

Brickstock will show the US$ price, you are looking at the price in Euro online.

But if I put the EUR conversion in settings as my local currency, the prices
are still wrong.

This is not easily explainable - the price you see in Brickstock depends on what
you have set in the configure menu e.g. use local currency and whether you have
a conversion factor in there. All prices via Brickstock are based on the USD
price that Bricklink holds in its database and converts to your local currency
when you are looking at it. So there are many factors to consider, especially
on last 6 months sales. You are not told of what historical conversion rate was
used anywhere but to all intents and purposes the figures should be the same.
Being an EU member are you registered for VAT?

Pricing, unfortunately is not a strong point for Brickstock - it does need some
work especially for how it uses the price guid.
