We can see the white wire in auction 123811320635 on Ebay.
We can also see the white wire here (not sealed):

This set was released between transition of wire/connectors of Blue to Gray Era Train Sets

| I also found another change in inventory, but I do not find sealed box evidence
for making a proper change request.
Maybe someone have this set as sealed and can help us with that.
=======================
We know set 880-1 was released on 1979 (*)
It was 1 year before
and connectors type were released in 1980
We can read on page 19 of catalog: "For use with LEGO transformer 741"
For me the first version of this set come with this cable:
Light Gray [p=bb93bc01]
Light Gray[p=bb141c01]
White
We can see the wire with connectors on the picture on the box:

Hi Fred,
I have gathered some information for this set and your other request 156-1 since
one year ago. As you know, I (and you) have been waiting for the catalog and
inventory admins on how the wires should be handled.

In a similar vein, shouldn't we also have the two-pin version of the motor
itself? So far as I know, the 3-pin plugs turned up in the early 80s, possibly
1982, so the motor should certainly exist as both 2-pin and 3-pin versions.
The box lid clearly shows a 2-pin motor, and the attached image of a sealed set
looks like a 2-pin motor to me.

Hi,
I do not think motor [p=bb22] exist in 2-pin and 3-pin version. (I can be wrong)
Only one version of 12V motor (black one) is listed on the Catalog
