I placed a $20 order for some parts on June 21st. I live in the US, seller is
from CA. It took a full week before the status changed. During this time I double-checked
the sellers page, seeing if they had any notes about being on vacation, or shipping
times, but there was none.

I asked on July 2nd if it had shipped and if there was tracking information.
The seller replied that yes, it had shipped, no, there was no tracking information,
and it would get here in 10-14 days. By my calculation (including Saturdays,
and minus the 4th of July), it should have been here today.

At this point I’m extremely frustrated. With no tracking information, should
I give it a few more days? I was looking forward to building a set with my son
but it’s been hard to keep telling him “hopefully soon” when he asks where it
is.

I’m new to Bricklink and have had great experiences so far. This is the only
bad one of the bunch. What would you do if shipping was a month for your order?

Unfortunately, cross-border orders (especially with no tracking) can take a long
time to get there Usually it's much quicker, but if there are any hold-ups
at the border for any reason, this can cause a lot of delay. Even within the
country there can be delays. For example, I sent a small envelope sized order
to a town outside my city and it managed to take 2 weeks!

If you're ever worried about how long a package takes to arrive, I would
recommend always opting to pay a bit more and have it shipped using a tracked
method. By choosing the economical method of shipping, there are no guarantees
for when it will arrive. But I can say with confidence that it is highly reliable.
So I would give it a bit more time as the seller cannot follow up with the postal
service to track it. If you have doubts as to if they mailed it when they said
they did, you can request the postage receipt from it.

That's good to know, thank you! I'll give it some more time, and be sure
to pay extra for tracked shipping next time. Live and learn!

I feel your frustration. Something isn't right. There is no shipping except
media mail that may take 10 to 14 days. If he used that then shame on him and
he is stepping on one of my pet peeves. A small order should have went via First
class mail and a larger via Priority mail. You did say it was going from California
to Illinois, correct? Nothin should take longer than a week.

keep us informed. I, at least am curious what postage method he used, if any.

Sorry, CA, as in Canada. I should have specified. I'm sure that has a lot
to do with the delay. Hopefully it comes soon, I'll let you know how it was
shipped.

Depending on the shipping method used, orders to Canada have to go through Sweden
first.

I highly doubt Canadian sellers use FIMS to ship orders to the US.

Hey! It’s a syndrome, not a disease!

Is that why every time I head to Windsor via Detroit, I end up in this really
foreign place first? It's really the tunnel to Sweden.

That would be good ol' Canada Post. Most times, shipments to the US will
arrive in a week or two, sometimes this gets stretched to 3 weeks, and in very
rare cases even longer. There is no rhyme or reason that I can see. Tracking
from Canada to the US is fairly expensive.

Our record for a domestic shipment going less than 100km (60mi for the metric-challenged)
is just over 6 weeks. I could have walked it over there faster.

(No, OP wasn't one of our customers, just chiming in.)

I've waited 2.5months for shipping from South Africa to Norway. My customer
have waited a bit over 2 months for shipping from Norway to South Africa with
priority shipping. I've ordered alot which have taken more than 1month. I
guess customs spend alot of time.

Also a shipment from Netherlands to Norway was opened by customs. I guess the
hollow tube and instructions looked suspicious in the xray

Be patient even though shipping is slow, most stores are trustworthy.

Canada postal workers were on strike for a while and that could be why there
was such a delay in shipping. Did the package arrive yet?
