| I just opened my first sealed set ever where every part that is supposed to be
white looks almost exactly like a perfect match for tan or slightly lighter.
It is quite weird to be expecting white parts and seeing everything look tan.
You would never know these parts were ever white by looking at them since the
color is even on all surfaces of every part. Because the set was sealed, it could
not be UV damage due to sunlight as so many sites claim, so some other chemical
process occurs. There must be some sort of breakdown of some additive in the
ABS due to storage conditions of the set (maybe higher temperatures). I don't
know what it is, but I am less than happy with my purchase now.

You read the wrong sites  
UVs don’t tan the plastic. UVs accelerate or make possible some chemical reactions
in the plastic.
Other things may accelerate the reactions. And the reactions also occur all
by themselves.
Some additives do react more easily or mode badly than others. That’s what happened
with the old bricks / old ABS.
And yes, UVs can also help “cure” the problem because it helps oxydation reactions,
which are also greatly helped by the presence of free oxygen, like when the parts
are soaking in peroxyde.

| The color white in the older sets is a warm white not a pure white. So yes sometimes
they look "tanish". I bought a collection from the 80's and early 90's
and that is the way the whites look even in sealed boxes. Most of the whites
I had to sell used since some people don't understand the color change and
were emailing me about it. They also tend to look dirty because they are darker,
especially on the stud tops when placed next to the new pure white color.

| Also I found that the yellow, red and blue bricks tend to be darker and not as
